Updates that require restart doom my pc. Constant system recovery

So this is my sisters laptop. Her lil trackpad or whatever is called wasn't working either so i just decided to do a clean install. The install seemd to go good but the pad was still not working, but i soon realized that was the least of my problems. Windows 7 updates came up so i just installed them and there was about 7 optional updates including one for the trackpad. But windows install failed for those 7 everytime, every clean install i did. And whenever i shut down i come to the screen that says something like "windows failed to launch" or something and i only get two options. "start system recovery" or "continue to windows" but if i continue to windows it would just restard and go back to same screen so i would system recover so it will be ok until i restart even if i didnt agree to any updates. I have noticed that it likes to do it often when i have to restart and when the restart button has that windows update logo on it. After a system recovery it will be me a BSOD error report.

Set updater to tell you of updates.
Install manually only one or two at a time
Multiple installs requiring restart cause conflicts and problems

It is difficult to answer such a question. Of course it could be hardware but there is now way of knowing from here.
