Windows 7: BSOD only at school

BSOD only at school

Hey guys... I have this weird problem with my laptop where I get the blue screen of death when I connect to my school's network. The school has 2 internet connections: 1 requires you to download Aventail Connect (a wireless VPN client) and the other one doesn't. I've suspected that the BSOD has something to do with the VPN software because it only happens at school - no where else. However, I've uninstalled the software in the control panel and have started using their internet connection that doesn't require the VPN client and I still get the BSOD. I've even gotten it in Safe Mode. I have attached 2 mini dumps from today in case you'd like to look at them. Any help is appreciated.

If its of any use, I have a:

Toshiba A505-S6980
Windows 7 64 bit - Home Premium
4gb RAM

Thanks...

Both of these DMP's were truncated and fairly inconclusive. I noticed that Chrome was running in both. Just an FYI.

The bug checks for these two are 7F. Has any hardware been changed lately? Memory added, different camera (esp toshiba), etc?

Bug check 0x7F typically occurs after you install a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or if installed hardware fails.

A double fault can occur when the kernel stack overflows. This overflow occurs if multiple drivers are attached to the same stack. For example, if two file system filter drivers are attached to the same stack and then the file system recurses back in, the stack overflows.

If you get more BSOD's upload the DMPS.

In the mean time there are a couple of things (they are a pain but...) you can test

1-Run a memory test

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

2- Run a system file check

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Thanks for the quick reply. Just to let you know, I haven't touched the hardware - its the same as I bought it about a year ago. I ran the system file check as you recommended and it came back fine. I'll try to do the memory test and see what comes up and I'll post some more dumps when I go back to school Monday so you guys can see them. Thanks again, very informative.
