    Right Click Properties Crash

    Hey guys,

Been having an issue where upon right clicking (a file, folder, drive, you name it) and clicking properties Windows Explorer will crash.

Heard people were having a similar problem when only right clicking, many solved this by going into their registry and deleting some values. Since their problem was similar to mine, I went ahead and deleted some values under

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

however, this doesn't seem that is the problem. Any ideas?

UPDATE: After running sfc/scannow I receive a BSOD, upon reboot the following message is displayed. Also I've attached the dump file

Thanks for even reading this, any help is extremely appreciated,

    Camaren

    Hello,

Have you tried a system files check?
    JK said:
Open an elevated command prompt and enter sfc /scannow.
You might also try a repair install.

    Hello and Welcome !

Download the ShellExView is an excellent tool to view and manage all installed shell extensions. The rule is to disable non-Microsoft context menu handlers *one-by-one* and verify if the problem is solved. If disabling one does not solve the problem, undo the disabled item and disable the next non-Microsoft handler. Do the same until the problem is solved and finally identify the culprit. Scroll right to see the Company Name column in ShellExView.

    Hope this helps,

Capt.JackSparrow appreciate the help (awesome username btw)

Quick question, did you notice I am specifically having a problem only when clicking on "Properties," in the right click menu? Either way, I'll try and disable some of the shell extensions once more.

    Thanks again,

    Camaren

edit: Disabled all non-Microsoft shell extensions, problem persists.

While running SFC/SCANNOW the computer freezes, bluescreens, and reboots with a prompt. Promp it displayed below, also zipped dump file attached.

    Hello,

Seems like it might be your Hard Drive. Go to this link Hardware Diagnostic !! « Captain Debugger and follow the options for Hard Drive Diagnostic. Post us the results.

    Bugcheck:

    Code:
    KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in. Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
    KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.
    Arguments:
Arg1: c0415d68, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: c0000185, error status (normally i/o status code)
Arg3: 17130860, current process (virtual address for lock type 3, or PTE)
Arg4: 82bad5a6, virtual address that could not be in-paged (or PTE contents if arg1 is a PTE address)
