BSOD IRQL not less or equal

    Hello,

My OS is Win 7 64 bit OEM, and the PC came with minor overclock already from cyberpower.com. I've had the pc for 18 days, and had maybe 3-4 bsod previous to the one today (sorry can't rem the error message with those). Today altered the overclock settings in bios, and got the bsod again (info attached) when playing Lord of the Rings Online. Previous bsod's happened not when gaming.

Checked drivers and all are up to date. Ran deep scan with avast free, no malware was detected.

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer.

    Hi,
Nothing much info in single dump so it'll much better if you follow this instruction:
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Anyway your dump has bugcheck 0xA = IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL could be caused by driver or RAM.

Start troubleshooting by removing Avast and replace it with MSE.
    http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

    Then update these drivers:
    Code:
    yk62x64.sys  Mon Sep 28 01:19:31 2009 --> Marvel Yukon Ethernet driver
    copperhd.sys Tue May 23 20:51:13 2006 --> Razer Diamondback

Hi jayarte no problem about that,
Hmm still the same dump as before, so follow the suggestion above.
Make sure to do the update and see how is it goes. If still get BSOD then attach the new files here.

I decided to update the drivers first and try for a few days until/if I get another bsod, then uninstall Avast so it might be easier to see which, if any, was the cause of the crash.

Thanks for the help, wish, much appreciated.

    Another bsod

I've had another bsod, this time whilst browsing only (using firefox). I hope I've been more successful this time in gathering the data and uploading it.

I've also attached 3 cpuz screens to show cpu overclock and memory timings because I think the latter are wrong but don't have a clue how to adjust them correctly, plus SIW screens to give more detailed info on memory.

Please let me know if you need any more data, and thanks once again for any help anyone can offer.

Actually I'll post the cpu and siw screens in the post below, because for some reason I can't upload them to this post.

    more info

Forgot to say I have uninstalled Avast and installed MSE and the bsod happened a couple of days after that.

The slight overclock which the pc came with also caused bsod, but I reckon it's prob because I haven't got the correct overclock for this system yet. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to overclocking and I tend to copy settings people post on forums. I know that's not the best way, but my illness makes it hard for me to concentrate, so fiddling around with settings and testing is just beyond my reach, unfortunately. I prefer to get some settings someone has tried and then tweak them until they are right for my pc set-up, but I feel out of my depth with this new cpu.

Screens of cpuz and siw attached for further info.

    Hi again,
Yes, I see you have update the drivers and the 2 new dmp files have IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0xa) and DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0xd1) bugcheck.
Usual caused by driver and RAM but your overclock system is most likely the caused.

Honestly I don't have much experience with hardware stuff, so I'll search help for you.
The only things that I can suggest is : could you adjust the CPU clock into default clocks?
    Default Frequency = 2800 Mhz
Your current Frequency = 3800 Mhz
    Overclock Ratio = 1.35

A 1000Mhz overclock on that Cpu (about 35-36% OC) is a bit more than a mild OC.

What Im curious about is the vcore seems quite low for 3.8Ghz.

If it were me, being as the PC is new, take it back and make them replace or fix it.

However, if you want to try and resolve the issue yourself:

My guess is its just unstable.
You can try running Prime95 and see what happens.
Chances are it will fail. But that will let you know its a hardware issue.

So to isolate it, the first thing I would do is go into the bios and reset to optimized deafults.

This should return everything to default speeds.

Next, test the hardware itself to be sure it is good.

Then, run Memtest86 to ensure memory is good.
If it checks good, boot to Windows and run Prime 95.

You want to be sure the hardware itself is good before attempting any OC.

    Jayarte

Have easy way to get rid of OC and back to default.

Do you have ASUS TurboV EVO installed on the PC?
Go to start> All Programs> Asus It should be listed there. Open it if it is.

    Let me know.

Wishmaster I was typing when you posted. Leave it as is and run your test or get rid of OC? Your call.

TurboV is the software they use to OC with. It can be accessed easier than thru bios. In the picture they have his set on #3.
Set mine there and it goes to 3.8GHz.
Click the "0" and then click Apply then the system will auto reboot to default settings.
Bios is now reset to defaults also.
    Software accessed Bios.
