    Weird 100% load problem

Hello, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on a Dell Vostro 1310 (a few more specs in my profile) and the problem is the following:

After doing something that uses the CPU more intensively than usual (like watching HD videos—both regular and in YouTube) I get a 100% load, which shouldn't happen obviously. Sometimes it even happens with regular (as in non-HD) videos if I have some "heavy"-load programs like 2 Firefox instances with several tabs each. I tried several codecs (no codecs after formatting the C partition, K-Lite, CCCP) but it seems it wasn't the problem (because the problem persists with regular and YouTube videos).

The other weird thing is that the 100% load persists after I close the resource-hog application (sometimes several minutes after). While this happens, when I open Process Explorer, the load switches randomly from program to program. For example, if I have Firefox open it will sometimes show 50% load on Firefox, or if not 30% on Metapad (which doesn't even have a file open), or 40% on explorer.exe, etc.

As I said I tried several codecs, I don't have automatic updates (but update Windows manually every time an update comes up), I tried formatting the C partition and I think that's about it.

Here are some screenshots I took after I got it to hit 100% load and closed the video player:

I hope you can help me because this is driving me nuts, otherwise I guess I'll have to go back to Windows XP :S It's worth noting that this started to happen some time ago randomly, I was using Windows 7 without any issues for several months before this started to happen. I am open to any suggestions and if you want me to run any tests, please tell me and I'll gladly do it. Thanks in advance.

    /edit:

As you'll see below, I opened two HD videos and got a BSOD with this info:

    Code:

I followed the instructions from this thread: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Here is the result: http://brott.com.ar/misc/Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2.rar (or see attachment)

    Is Windows 7 . . .
    - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    - the original installed OS on the system? No, a retail
    - an OEM or full retail version? Retail
    - OEM = came pre-installed on system
    - Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer

    - What is the age of system (hardware)? Almost two years
    - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) July 14th 2010

Super AntiSpyware is the resource hog. What ever the program is used for.

Not a hardware problem probably but unusual software.

Turn off/disable or delete Super AntiSpy would be first thing I'd do. It should be idling or an occasional up tick and it isn't. It appears it is running a full scan of everything when you open other apps.

Try that first. One step at a time.

    FYI
I also see a Comodo.exe running. If it is just the firewall no problem.
If it is the Comodo antivirus then you will need to delete the Super AntiSpy. Using two AV's can cause BSOD's and crashes and other weird problems.

It's just the firewall, yes. And about anti spyware I don't think it is, I just installed it in case there was some malware. I happened before that was installed, too. I did the same with Avast (just in that case I uninstalled it). I'll uninstall it but I'm pretty sure it will keep happening. Thanks for the reply Hopalong X.

Should I try closing everything and then trying if it keeps happening?

By the way, I was in the process of closing everything, I opened VLC with an HD video and was opening BSPlayer with another one (to get the 100% load) when I got a BSOD:

    Code:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
      OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
      Locale ID: 11274

    Additional information about the problem:
      BCCode: 1e
      BCP1: FFFFFFFFC0000047
      BCP2: FFFFF80002B00034
      BCP3: FFFFF80002C4BE80
      BCP4: FFFFF880009F09E8
      OS Version: 6_1_7600
      Service Pack: 0_0
      Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
      C:\Windows\Minidump\110910-23212-01.dmp
      C:\Users\GonzaloGM\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-41480-0.sysdata.xml

Everything was closed, every process killed except the touchpad and video card processes (and VLC and BSplayer, obviously).

It is using a lot of your resources so a good place to start.

Should I try closing everything and then trying if it keeps happening?
You can't close everything. Windows won't work anymore either.

    Delete the Super Anti spy.
I would download this at least for temporary usage. MSE
    http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

It is Microsoft AV/malware software. You won't be unprotected.

I'm going to see if I can find one the Aces to come take a look.
    Back in a few minutes.

Good and bad. Bad it did it but now we can get some real help.

Follow this guide and post the files they need. The BSOD team will find the problems.

I am going to ask the moderators to move this thread to Crash and Debugging section where it will get closer attention if okay with you.

    Good idea Ken.

I requested moderators to move to Crash and Debug.

We are already there. The transporter works.

    Brott

Make sure you include everything they request in the BSOD report. If you have a problem ask questions.
