exploer.exe crashing? and restarting every second.

    Hello,

I've had a search for this issue online and in the forums and hope it's not the case that it has been resolved already and I missed the post. Most of the closely related problems inspired suggestions for graphics card driver updates. This doesn't seem to be my issue.

Upon start up, the Start bar and upper portions of open window frames - including menu words - will flash around once a second. Attempting to scroll down in open windows is undermined by this flashing, because the scroll bar will jump back to it's highest most point with each flash. Similarly, attempting to open the wireless internet access tab from the bottom right on the start bar is frustrated by this flash. Each one causes the tab to close again. Double clicking an available network before it closes is very difficult. The Start Button menu does not suffer from the same frequent disappearance thankfully, except when you click on the 'search programs and files' text box. At this point the menu will promptly close with the next flash.

I don't believe this is a graphics driver issue because I can switch between the two graphics cards on my laptop and I still get the same problem.

This flashing has happened once before. I'm unable to remember how I resolved it, or whether it went away on its own. Earlier today I enabled automatic updates, I was surprised that this had been turned off. It was sometime after this that the flashing returned. I don't know if they are related. I have tried a recent system restore with no result.

    In short: .

Any help or suggestions you can provide me with would be gratefully received,

    Thanks,

    Neil

I have this issue on an older laptop of mine - it's a keyboard issue that I just haven't gotten around to replacing.
That being said, this can be many other things.

Does the issue happen in Safe Mode? To get in Safe Mode, rapidly tap the F8 key as soon as the BIOS splash screen first goes away.

Have you scanned for viruses? Have you tried the suggestions here: Troubleshooting Explorer.exe Crashing Issues
