Since Wake from Sleep Mode Comp. Can't Do Anything

Hi SevenForums. This is my first post here, so forgive me if I'm breaking any etiquette.

My problem is that, if I just close my laptop and let it do it's thing, when I re-open it and it goes to boot up, it takes a very long time, up to fifteen minutes. And even after that, everything is basically unresponsive. Opening the start menu takes several minutes, running the Task Manager takes no less than five. That's to say nothing for larger programs.

This happened several times, all in situations where I closed my laptop without shutting down or logging off. I'm not sure what the default action is for that (sleep or hibernate?) but whichever it is seems to cause my laptop to simply cease being able to perform.

Prior to now, this was easy enough to fix by just restarting the laptop, sometimes a couple of times. Now, however, unless I boot in safe mode (such as I am now, with networking), I can barely get past the log-in screen. Anyone have any solutions?

I don't know about tech stuff really, but I can take directions well enough. If there's any other information I can provide, let me know. I'll be diligently checking this post all night!

Thanks in advance, guys.

What antivirus do you use?

Run a scan of Malwarebytes and repair corrupted system files with SFC

My current anti-virus is McAfee, and it came with my computer as a trial. As for the Malwarebytes bit, I'll do that now, and edit when complete.

Remove McAfee and use MSE

Can do. Currently running Malwarebytes as you instructed. Upon reading the page on SFC however, I noticed it said I should make use of system restore in the event of corrupted files. For some reason, I don't seem to have any system restore points (which is strange, because I had a good number not more than two days ago). I'm willing to go for option two, which is manually replacing any corrupted files, but I don't know of a good place to find them. Any advice on that?

Seems like malware deleted them

Okay, Malwarebytes scan was clean, as was SFC. Gonna uninstall McAfee and install MSE as you suggested. Hopefully it works!

No luck. Logging in is much faster now, down to an exceptional 10 seconds. However, as soon as the desktop is loaded up, I'm still unable to really do anything. Start menu takes 20 seconds to open up after clicking, and even the task manager took about a minute. I didn't try anything else because, based on that, I probably wouldn't have any success.

McAfee is uninstalled, but since I can't really run in a normal logon, I haven't been able to install MSE yet.

Is there a next step from there? I'm at a loss

Hi,

Lets see what else is slowing your system down.

Please follow these instructions: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

Attach the .zip file to your next post in this thread.

Windows 7 64bit OEM

This laptop is about four months old. I have not reinstalled the OS.

Done, except for that the perfmon /report didn't work. I attached a screenshot showing what it displayed. Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2.zip is included, however.

As a side note, yowanvista, I gave you rep for sticking with me so long on this. Thanks so much!
