    BSOD help

So got a BSOD like three times randomly in the last few weeks.

I ran the verifier.exe and checked the ntoskrnl.exe and it gave me a BSOD on system reboot every time. So I guess that's the problem.

It's an assembled rig, bought about one month and a week back.

    Anyway the system config is:

    athlon II x4 635
    gigabyte gm-880-ud2h
    corsair 2gb 1333mhz ddr3
    corsair vx450
samsung 1TB hdd (bought a year back but in use since only 4-5 months on the old comp as an external disk)
    zotac gtx460 1gb
    dvd rw samsung

OS is 64bit. Is in Dual boot with XP professional. Had got a BSOD before dual boot as well.

The perfmon file is in the NT6_BSOD file

Here are the minidump files and the NT6_BSOD thing which I downloaded from the stickied topic:

I downloaded the zip file. How do I install it? I'm completely new at it. I checked the drivers folder and it has no file called ASACPI.sys

    What do I do?

EDIT: I did run AsAcpiIns.exe in the 64 folder.

Running the exe file should do the trick. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, find ASACPI.sys and check its date. If it is a 2009 date, you are good to go.

There is no such file in my Drivers folder. What am I doing wrong?

I downloaded the file. I got a zip archive called MB_WIN7_ATK.ZIP

I extracted it and got the folder with the same name which has two subfolders called 32 and 64. Now I went into 64 and ran AsAcpiIns.exe

EDIT: I uninstalled Daemon Tools Lite and ran verifier.exe with standard settings and only ntoskrnl.exe checked. It gave me a BSOD right at the begining of windows start-up like it did before when I tried it.

You should be fine as far as ASACPI.sys is concerened. I think the newest version of MB_WIN7_ATK.ZIP eliminates that driver. You did just right in selecting the 64 bit version. Good job.

Regarding Driver Verifier, you want to exempt all Windows/Microsoft drivers. Driver Verifier will cause a BSOD when in encounters a faulty driver. Hopefully, the resulting dump file points to the offending driver. Upload that dump file and we will take a look at it.

I read a thread over here while browsing on how to use Verifier. I'll follow that step and post the dump files then. Thanks.

Alright so I followed the instructions given in this thread and didn't select any of the Microsoft Drivers and the two others mentioned and ran the verifier. It gave me a BSOD right at the start so had to delete those settings after going into windows via Safe Mode.

    Here is the minidump:

Interesting; the dump is not a Driver Verifier enabled dump.

I do find a couple of things that are almost guaranteed BSOD makers.
    gdrv.sys Thu Mar 12 23:22:29 2009 - Gigabyte's Easy Saver program
Uninstall Easy Saver; it is known to cause BSOD's.

The second one is sptd.sys. I know that you uninstalled Daemon Lite; however, sptd.sys is still loading on your system. sptd.sys
, is notorious for causing BSODs. Make sure Daemon is uninstalled and then use this SPTD uninstaller: DuplexSecure - Downloads. Select the uninstall option; do not select reinstall.

I recommend that you uninstall Avira. Note in the usual causes above, virus scanner is listed. Avira is known to cause BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. Once you get your system stable, you can try Avira again; but I do not recommend doing so. You can try Avast; it generally runs well with with Win 7. But don't try it before you know your system is stable.

Uninstall Avira, uninstall Easy Saver, and uninstall sptd.sys. Reboot and see how your system does. Post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload the dump and we will start testing hardware beginning with testing your RAM.

The reason why you got the dump with verifier disabled is that system would give me a BSOD right at startup so I disabled the verifier in safe mode in rebooted.
Anyway, I'll do whatever you've mentioned when i get home. Let's hope that solves it.

Just another query? How about kaspersky pure? Is it safe enough or known to cause BSOD too?

EDIT: Done. Removed all three. Now should I just wait for a few days/weeks to see if I get a BSOD or run the verifier?
