Windows 7: burning data blu-ray, all I get is coasters!

10 Jan 2013   #11

No real solution

NO, IMHO, Ive used IMGBurn, usually w/o issue, but as of late, especially with default win7-64, I just cant use the app. It locks up on burn and takes the drive hostage.

Looked at INFRA, but it treats the disc like a CDROM and doesnt allow BDR recording, neither will the burned disc will read. WIN7 again, will burn(and without smoke rings on the disc) but will have issues requiring one to slam the eject button.

DID NOT have this issue with inital BDRAM drives from LG. I also, sick of wasting $1 coasters. Too expensive to ignore, even with LTH pricing. NOTE: there is now WIN8 flash firmware update. Im using that.

Now looking for BDR writing software, and no, newegg does NOT ship any with it, besides if you ever use linux or your pc, THEN WHAT? Not be able to burn a BDR?

We are under windows, I get it. But any decent app dev will write for linux as well or support OPEN standards for writing media.

My last USB LG DVDRAM drive is a good drive but for some reason my USB ports are fried or something, anyway the laptop is garbage now, wont power on. But as it were months ago I wrote smoky ringed backups and now cant read them at all, even on the original DVDROM drive(non-LG) that came with my 'WAL-MART special' new tower. Basically still made by same manufactuer-er as my Gateway Laptop(by ACER).

SO I lost a 14 DVD backup, which is why I chose BDROM in the first place. HARD DRIVES FAIL. My luck with optical media is that they fail LESS, especially with ACRYLIC media.
