Windows 7: Windows 7 - BSOD's

21 Nov 2010   #11

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit

Just the dump is fine; thanks much. The first thing I see is that SGFu03x64.sys 10/15/2008 is showing as an unloaded module in your latest dump. Did you uninstall the fingerprint reader in Devices and Printers? Just unplugging it will not remove from your system. If you did uninstall it, using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, locate the file and rename from .sys to .old, reboot and the driver will not load. This crash involved a number of your USB drivers and it is likely this obsolete driver caused it.
Error code DE, POOL_CORRUPTION_IN_FILE_AREA. Usual causes: Device driver, ?Memory
Also, another of your mysterious drivers is is showing as an unloaded module: ahojbitb.SYS. Again, I cannot find this driver on your system nor is there anything on Google about it.

Malwarebytes is much superior to AdAware.

I did finally get rid of those secugen drivers, there was no uninstall, and I couldn't even delete them in Safemode, I had to takeown them.

Those are gone, I also removed truecrypt, to see if that is making any of the mysterious .sys files.

I am leaning against malware/virus just because I do run Microsoft Security Essentials and I am careful about what I install... which if I were you, I would be thinking the same thing 'Yeah, right' And this OS install isn't even 60 days old.

Thanks again for your help, hopefully getting rid of those files helps.

I agree with you. If MSE and Malwarebytes did not find anything suspicious, your system is most likely clean. Truecrypt is a good possibility for creating those one time drivers. They are not necessarily a bad thing; I just could not figure them out. If your obsolete drivers are not the cause, they were certainly playing a role in making your system unstable.

Great job of following suggesting and taking initiative. Post back in three days or so and let us know how your system is doing. I hope your BSOD's are history.

Will do, thanks again for everyone's help! This has been driving me insane for the last 45 days +/-.

Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit

Happy Monday,

I almost made it a full 2 hours at work with out a BSOD. I attached the mini dump.

How do you see what is causing it? I open it with WinDbg, but I don't see the references to sys files.

Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit

Crash two, 59 minutes later... good times!

And I have now ordered a 120GB SSD and an optical to SSD conversion bay. This problem will be gone, one way or another, by this weekend

oops, uploaded the wrong mini dump, just deleted and re-upped the right one.

You have read all the way through the WinDbg report and look at the stack. Also the command "lmtsmn" lists the drivers and shows the unloaded modules. From there you need to know what you are looking for- which are system files/driver and which are third party.

This dump blames your file system, Ntfs.sys. Since NTFS.sys in a Microsoft driver, it is unlikely to be the real cause. I do find one out of date driver loading on your system:
SABI.sys Thu May 28 02:38:02 2009 - SAMSUNG Kernel Driver , SAMSUNG Kernel Driver, SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS. Samsung
See if Samsung has an update for this driver. It is a Vista driver and may be OK.

Because of error code 24, please run Check Disk:
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt. Please do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter. Then reboot and let the test run. It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors. See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

Elevated Command Prompt:
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Windows 7) (winlogon for XP).

Copy/paste the results into your next post.

Next run SFC:

Thanks again, I will run those tonight and see what I get.

I will also check out the SABI.sys file to see if there is an updated driver out there.

Thanks again,
