    BSOD at shut down

    Hello all,

I recently bought (2 months ago) this Gateway ZA8 notebook to take with me to Afghanistan. I had only had 2 blue screens at first (don't know why). I recently installed a computer monitoring program, called webwatcher, that was highly recommended. after installing, the computer would go to the BSOD at shut down. Sometimes it would do it at startup also. please take a look at the reports and any help would help. thank you all

Hi, mateo; and welcome to the forum. I looked at your four most recent dumps. All four indicated memory corruption. Unfortunately, they do not give the cause of the memory corruption. Therefore you will have to troubleshoot.

You have a known BSOD maker on your system, Daemon Tools. It uses a driver, found in your dump, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads. Select uninstall; do NOT select reinstall.

Here is a free alternative CD virtualization program that does not use the sptd.sys driver.
    Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview

Outdated drivers can and do cause memory corruption and crashes with Win 7. Software designed for XP will not work well with Win 7. I find the following outdated drivers loaded on your system. The ones in bold font are really obsolete. Update or eliminate the following drivers.
Apfiltr.sys Sun May 24 06:57:40 2009 - Alps pointing device. OEM - none at アルプス電気. Update this driver from your computer manufacturer's website.

DKbFltr.sys Wed Mar 25 23:15:42 2009 - Dritek Keyboard Filter driver. Technical Support. Update this driver.

lmimirr.sys Tue Apr 10 18:32:45 2007 - RemotelyAnywhere Mirror Miniport Driver or LogMeIn Mirror Miniport Driver, https://secure.logmein.com/US/home.aspx. This software is obsolete; uninstall it.

LMIRfsDriver.sys Mon Jul 14 12:26:56 2008 - RemotelyAnywhere Mirror Miniport Driver or LogMeIn Mirror Miniport Driver, https://secure.logmein.com/US/home.aspx. This sotware is obsolete; uninstall it.

RaInfo.sys Fri Jan 04 13:57:14 2008 - LogMeIn/RemotelyAnywhere Kernel Information Provider RemotelyAnywhere - Remote Access Solutions. This dotware is obsolete; uninstall it.

Rt64win7.sys Fri May 22 10:52:30 2009 - Realtek 8101E/8168/8169 Network Driver Interface Specification 6.20 64-bit Driver. Latest PCIe GBE (GigaBit Ethernet) drivers here: Realtek.
    How to find drivers -
    - I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box above. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads
    - - To remove any left over driver remnants, especially from graphics cards, use driver sweeper Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Remove sptd.sys and update or eliminate the out of date drivers. Reboot and run your system. Let's see how it does. Post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there.

And you have not updated these drivers. You do not need LogMeIn if it will not run on your computer without crashing. With those out of date drivers, that will be the case. Uninstall this version and upgrade.

    yet again

I called the logmein support and they said I can delete their driver without impairing the program. I did this through the device manager. I also double checked to make sure the SPTD driver was not installed. it is not and I also included a screen shot of the message box. after I did all of this I had to restart the computer to ensure the logmein driver was deleted. during shut down I had another BSOD. then I couldnt restart because it kept giving me a BSOD. I let the computer sit for about an hour before trying again and this time it turned on. I am really desperate. I am getting ready to head overseas for a year. this computer is the only way I will have contact with my wife and two girls. I can bring it back to Microsoft store, however, I am leaving within the next two weeks and there are no retail stores where I am working out of now. I really appreciate your help.

here is the most recent unexpected shutdown message:

Good job with sptd.sys; it is no longer showing up on your system. Are you military? If so I wish you the best with your tour.

You are going to have to bite the bullet and uninstall LogMeIn. These 2007 and 2008 drivers are not going to work with Win7. Try the latest version of TeamViewer in place of LogMeIn. It works fine with Win 7.

You also are going have to update those three other drivers, especially Rt64win7.sys. If you don't rid your system of conflicts, you will continue to get BSOS's. Up to date drivers are important for Win 7.

    having trouble

I am having a little trouble finding the driver updates. I deleted the logmein program from my computer. how can I verify the drivers were deleted as well? I haven't shut down my computer because I haven't updated all the drivers, and I'm honestly a little afraid. any help with the drivers would be appreciated. thanks again.

To update your Apfiltr.sys (Alps) driver, go to your computer manufacturer's website and do a search for that driver. If you find it, download it to your desktop.

To update DKbFltr.sys, go Technical Support and search for the driver. Download it to your desktop.

For Rt64win7.sys, go to Realtek and download the updated driver. You may have to enter system information in order to find the driver.

Usually the downloads are in zipped folders. Unzip to a folder on your desktop. Open this folder and you will usually see an .exe file. Click on that file and it will install the updated driver. Do this for each driver you have downloaded. If a folder does not have an .exe file, open Device Manager, find the device, right click on the device and click on Properties>click on the Drivers tab>click on the Update drivers button>select Browse my computer and enter the path to the folder on your desktop.

    Hope this helps.
