Windows 7 - Downloading error messages

    Hey,

I have an 11 month old Acer Aspire 7540 laptop. I’m having problems with downloading to Windows 7 and hope that this forum will be able to offer some help/advice.

My antivirus software is Comodo and up until now, I have found that it does it’s job, (I hope).

The main problems seem to arise upon a download request. I mostly use Mozilla Firefox as my browser and occasionally IE7.
Here are a couple of the applications etc that I’ve tried to download:-

    - A plug in (Java) to use with Photobox
    - Adobe Flash

When I’ve clicked the ‘download’ button, this is the message that pops up:

C:\Users\MY~NAME\AppData\Local\Temp could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.
Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location.

For example, with the plug in, I click on install plug in, box pops up saying “Available plug in downloads”, Java Runtime. Click next to install – then it says “no plug ins were installed” (FAILED).

It doesn’t give me any other option to download to, so I’m not sure what to do to rectify it.

In the temp folder, there is just every day sites, but I’m just feeling cross that I don’t know what is happening.

The second message can pop up after every site I enter and any submenu too within that site. It’s very strange. Then perhaps nothing will happen for a few days, but then it will start up again.

Red circle with a big white 'X' in it, then: There was a problem sending the command to the program.

Feel free to ask me any questions and thanks for taking a look.

Please, please, I hope someone can help me. :)
    Many thanks.

    Beth.

Sorry to bump and to be inpatient, but does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? I'm quite anxious to download 2 things, but it will not allow me.

    Thanks a lot folks. :)
