Windows failed to load, problem may be AVG?
My computer fails to load windows and keeps restarting at the point of the windows load screen.
When I started my computer, I got a pop-up saying AVG needed to restart the computer for an update. After the restart, the Windows Repair screen came up saying windows failed to load. Startup Repair tried to automatically fix the problem, which was taking a while, so I turn on my laptop. I saw the same AVG update pop up, and I wasn't yet suspicious of it so I restart my laptop as well. Unfortunately the same thing appears on the laptop.
The auto repair worked on the laptop but it failed on the desktop. Now the desktop acts as I've described above: it restarts every time it gets to the Windows loading screen. Running in safe mode does nothing. Trying a system restore (to yesterday, when it was working fine) does nothing. When the laptop restarted to normal, I got the AVG update window again, which I'm ignoring for now.
Both computers run Win7 Home Premium x64.
