    BSOD after returning from sleep (wake up)


    Hi all,
    Gets BSOD all of a sudden when returning from sleep. I use my system as a HTPC, so I rarely restart it (have done so now though). I almost always use sleep (S3, RAM only thing powered).

    BSOD said something about msrpc.exe (and one time something like ntfs.sys??)

    I'll attached my info. Hope anyone can make something out of it...

    Hi,

    The culprit in all your BSODs is anyseeTU.SYS

    This is the driver for a piece of hardware from this company - :: anysee - Enjoy Pay Channels in Windows Media Center ::

    It is relatively up to date, however it is still worth checking for an update - anysee - Enjoy Pay Channels in Windows Media Center

    If the update doesn't fix it, the solution is to remove the device, or just not use sleep mode.

    Hi

    Many thanks for your thorough report! Impressing!

    As I use the computer purely as a media center, anysee(watching TV) and its drivers are very crucial for me. And so is the use of sleep (i don't want to wait for the computer to start everytime I want to watch Tv, it resumes now from sleep in 5 secs... A startup 1-2minutes).

    The system has been up and running for a couple of months now, forgot to menition that. I think the last thing before the problems was that I installed software for a logitech webcam...

    I tried to scan for viruses (with ms security essentials, maybe not enough?) and reinstall the drivers for anysee. No success.
    The latest two BSOD's said msrpc.exe and ntfs.sys (strange that there weren't any in the dumps I posted).

    sigh... Maybe next step is a "restore" of a previous state.

    This isn't a solution... but,
    TIP: Don't use Sleep for long periods. I tested 5 PCs, all in sleep mode for several hours. BSOD appears in all 5.
    Microsoft mentioned about using Sleep Mode for long periods in Help and Support.

    Hibernate is an alternative option.

    Hi!

    I use sleep mode for a couple of days, it works for me. I use S3 type as mentioned above where the RAM is the only thing powered (AC, not battery). Thanks for the tip though

    I solved my problem (I hope, haven't tested more than a few times). The solution was to disable the software (a service) bundled with the logitech webcam. So "sleep-wakeup"+"logitech helper"+anysee apperently not a good combination.

    Must say I'm impressed by the response and eagerness to help me. Sevenforums you got a new fan!

    EDIT: Got the BSOD again.. Found out that anysee_TR.exe is indeed unnecessary(I'm using the windows media center built in scheduler instead) ... Shut it down. Hope it helps.

    EDIT2: Systems been up for 6 days now (alot of sleep-wake during this time). So solution confirmed ..thanks again!
