Windows 7: BSOD - oh the humanity

BSOD - oh the humanity

Hi guys,

I have the following spec'ed computer:
- MB: Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H
- CPU: Intel I3
- RAM: 2x2gb sticks
- HD's: Mix of WD's and seagates
- GPU: Onboard gigabyte

And of over the last week (since the 12-Dec) I have been getting a bsod every second day, and some days more than 1.

I had installed Alcohol120 and that seemed to cause more problems than a bull in a china shop, so I got rid of that. I'm not sure if this means its linked to a problem with my DVD-burner?

I have attached everything per the instructions about posting.

Any help would be great, but I'm more than happy to learn (I'm using BlueScreenView, but I dont know exactly what to look for). So any tips for figuring stuff out let me know.

Thanks guys

Hi cybercore,

Thanks for the tips, I have installed the 3 drivers you have recommended. I will let it play out for a week and let you know.

What tools did you use to run the analysis? How did you narrow it down to the 3 drivers? Do you cross-reference the memory-address in the minidump with the driver list ??

Thanks

UPDATE: I had another BSOD after the driver updates. I just ran memtest86+ from a boot cd, with the 2x2gb sticks in slots 1 and 3 I received 100+ errors in one pass of the memtest.

I re-ran the test with one stick at a time in slot 1, no errors for each stick on slot 1.

Swapped stick positions, (what was in slot 1 is now in slot 3, and vice versa) re-ran memtest again, no errors and no bsod's so far.

Possibly the ram wasn't seated properly (possible?) or there was dust/dirt/? on the slot that was cleared when moving the sticks in and out.

This and a combination of the drivers updates has "fingers crossed" solved the problem.

Thanks

EDIT:
I spoke far too soon - 15 mins later, another bsod. Re-ran memtest again, first pass, 100+ errors.

I am running memtest currently on stick1 in slot1. I will run each stick for 4 hours and see. Lucky i have a laptop
