    Windows won't find partition

So I installed partition magic 8, then found out it wasn't compatible with win 7 and not much sooner windows bsoded. Then boot mgr was missing upon reboot, so I auto-fixed it with a windows install disc. Now however, windows wont find one of my partitions, when first logging in to windows it says "please insert disk into :f", and in my computer the partition looks like a cd/dvd-drive! In the partitioning tool, the partition is still there as a primary but it does not have a name/path so I can't do anything with it.

How can I get back access to it?
    Thanks

Have a System Restore prior to the date of installation of partition magic and post back with results .

I tried but it did not help. I also tried running chkdsk at startup but that also did nothing.
Any more suggestions? Or should I just reinstall windows?

Partition Magic is a real pain. There were many incidents with that program. Did you check in Disk Management whether the partition does actually still exist. If not, you could recreate it and recover the content with Shadow Explorer, provided you have prior restore points. Here is how: http://forum.thewindowsclub.com/wind...-explorer.html

But if you do not have an image or a suitable restore point, your are probably a candidate for a reinstall. Just make sure you save your user data - or at least what is left of it.

I do not have restore points, but I am good anyway. I am in ubuntu right now and I can access the files in the partition just fine. I will format though, my partitions were a real mess anyways. Thanks

May I suggest you have a look at imaging. Then you can correct a situation like that in less than 30 minutes without the trouble of a reinstall. Here is a starting point: Imaging with free Macrium

Partition Wizard has a Partition Recovery Option- and it's Free! And it Works!
