Windows 7 32bit freezes at random

Hi, I am new to the forums and created my account for one reason. My computer which runs windows 7 home premium 32-bit continually freezes at completely random times. Normally, if i leave the computer alone for about a half hour, then it will unfreeze, but sometimes it will not and I am forced to do a hard boot. I have even had a few blue error screens. If I leave the computer idle, then it might freeze. I could be in the middle of a game, windows might freeze. I could be on any application on the computer and it will freeze. Even on the desktop where nothing else is running, it might freeze. I have had my computer freeze in each of these situations. I thought it might be the new memory that I installed in August 2010, but i removed it to see and the computer still froze. I put the new memory in, old memory out, it still froze. I thought it might be a fan problem, but when i checked, all three fans where spinning and the computer did not seem to hot. I also thought for some reason that it might be my graphics card. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 graphics card and I disabled it to see if it was the problem. My computer worked better for a while, then froze up again. I thought it might be a cleanliness problem, so I cleaned my computer of dust, and again, it froze. I have been updating windows with every update that comes out, but nothing seems to work. I also don't think that it is a virus or program related issue because I have Microsoft Security Essentials and it still froze when I booted into safe mode. I have looked at my windows application logs and found that I had a few problems associated with 2 programs and i unistalled them. I have not had an error in my logs since except for the hard boot errors. I am running an ACPI x86-based PC with an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ with 2.00 GB of RAM and I really would like the use of my computer again. Thanks for your time.

My computer originally ran windows vista and I had the same problems as before, freezing. After I installed windows 7, my computer worked fine for a while. My computer is about 3 years old. I bought windows 7 from staples. Windows seven has been installed on my computer for a year now.

In addition to what I said before, I was playing a game today and my computer froze. I let it sit for a while and then it unfroze. After it unfroze however, I noticed that there were patches of the game background that were pixelated. They sporadically appeared throughout the rest of the game and eventually fixed themselves, but I know the pixelation is related to my graphics card. I also noticed that one of my heatsinks was quite hot. I don't know what it was over, but it had no fan and it was quite hot compared to the rest of the computer.

A heat sink will be hot. The question is whether it is excessively hot. I recommend that you monitor your temps with Speedfan or CPUZ. Especially monitor your graphics card temp.

Your latest three dumps all show error code 116, VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE, and blame your video driver, nvlddmkm.sys. This is in line with what you described above. I suggest you test your video card with Furmark following the instructions in this tutorial: Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark. Read the tutorial carefully. Monitor your temps during the test. Post back with the results.

You also have some outdated drivers loaded on your system and some are quite obsolete. Out of date drivers can and do cause BSOD's. Update these drivers from the links provided or uninstall the software they are associated with.
dsunidrv.sys Sun Feb 18 13:31:02 2007 - GUniDriver or DellSupport UniDriver belongs to the software Gteko Diagnostics or DellSupport UniDriver by Gteko Ltd. Gteko was purchased by Microsoft. Unistall the software DellSupport or UniDriver. Uninstall this software.

mdmxsdk.sys Mon Jun 19 17:26:59 2006 - Conexant Modem Diagnostic Interface x86 Driver. Conexant: Support. Update this driver or upgrade your modem to one that is Win compatible.

nvraid.sys Wed May 20 02:43:36 2009 - nVidia nForce RAID Driver. Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers. Update this driver.

nvstor.sys Wed May 20 02:44:09 2009 - nVidia Storage Drivers. Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers. Update this driver.

RTKVHDA.sys Thu Jan 24 06:06:17 2008 - Realtek High Definition Audio Function Driver. Realtek. Update this driver.

xaudio.sys Fri Aug 04 20:39:09 2006 - Conexant modem audio driver. Conexant: Support. if there is no update, upgrade your modem to one that is Win 7 compatible.
If you need help with the drivers, please post back.

I did the stress test and I found that I was getting maybe 3 fps with the fur rendering on. Withought it, I was getting a lot more. The funny thing is, my temperature never went above 0 Degrees Celsius, which I think is not supposed to happen. I ran it for about 5 minutes.

I went through all my drivers and couldn't find any that were out of date.

There are no dumps to analyze.
First, we want to make sure the computer is saving your dump files. Go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Startup and Recovery [Settings] Make sure that "Write Debugging Information" is set to Small Memory Dump (256kb) if it is not already.

Next, make sure that the folder C:\Windows\Minidump exists. If not, create it (allow permission if asked). Make sure any dumps you want to analyze, whether yours or others', are in this folder. You can ZIP/RAR the files and send them to someone else to analyze as well.
Have you recently added RAM to your system? With x32 version of windows you will be limited to 3.25 GB of ram only.
    Code:
OS Name	Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
    System Type	X86-based PC
Installed Physical Memory (RAM)	8.00 GB
    Total Physical Memory	2.92 GB
    Available Physical Memory	1.60 GB
    Total Virtual Memory	5.84 GB
    Available Virtual Memory	4.32 GB
    Page File Space	2.92 GB

    Hi, thanks for replying.
The settings you mentioned were all set as you suggested.
I do have 8GB of ram installed but have just removed 4GB, I didn't realise 32bit was limited.
One other problem is the SSD drive, I have hibernation/sleep set to never but every now and again I hear a sound that sounds like the SSD drive has woken.
I will keep you posted if my PC freezes again.

    Thanks

Is the Firmware of your SSD up to date?
