Thank you so much for your help, I ended up calling sony and they went through a battery of diagnostic tests and found that the only way to fix the problem was to reconfigure the C drive and restore it to factory settings. So far everything seems to be working fine.

every time i go into my folder that is filled with videos windows explorer stops respond and then restarts closing the folder in the process
