    BSOD

    Hello

My luck has run out and now I'm getting error in my machine,

Three so far, each time I was using a program called Second Copy, it's a data backup program, and different error messages. I didn't record the first message but #2 was Page_Fault_in_Nonpaged_Area, #3 was Memory_Management.

    Win 7 64bit
    New install, by me
    New C Drive
    New MB
    Newish ram
    OS is 4 days old
WD Data drives from previous machine

Thank you for your help, this place is great

    Here are the requested files.

May in fact be Second copy conflicting with Microsoft Security essentials. Second copy specifically says XP and above but does not state win 7 compatible and can only handle open files in 32 bit windows.

Copy open files (32-bit Windows only)

I would un-install it to test and since all of these are memory problems run memtest to test yours

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

    thanks for your help Kenj.

I have downloaded those two programs, but can't install the iso burner, can't open the .msi file. Any clues?

    Cheers

    My apologies James

The Iso file is burned to a cd dvd. You cant run it from with in windows and dont need to open it to burn to cd. Simply burn it to cd then boot from it and run it.

    Cheers.

Ok mem test running, I'll report back in a few hours by the look of it:)

One thing I did notice was all of my sticks except one are XMP sticks, maybe this could be a problem. They are all 1600mhz and timed 9-9-9-24

    Thanks

James dont forget 5-6 passes and you may even have to run the sticks one at a time if you dont get errors initially. If there is one different stick I would try that first.

ok, I ran memtest for 24hours, had 8 passes and no errors reported, I didn't do an individual test on the odd stick of ram because I couldn't figure out how to do that in mem test.

I have run the machine for a few hours with no BSOD, so far so good. I have uninstalled Second copy and found a new bacup program which has worked so far, fingers crossed.

Thanks Ken J for your help.

    Cheers
