BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP: 0x0000000A

Hi

been trying to figure out whats causing my machine to bsod... but i havent been succesful.....

It wont boot into the OS(windows 7 ultimate x64) it'll bsod on the welcome screen(its gone into windows some times but it'll bsod right away). It also does the same thing in safe mode(although it boots sometimes and then bsod)

I've ran memtest for over 7hrs (8 passes), i've tested the hard drive, i've tested the psu and also switched in between video cards. Tried reseating the memory, round robin the memory 2 at time(3x 2gb sticks installed)

Here are the .dmp files i got from the machine.

I looked at your three most recent dumps. Two them directly blame ataport.sys and the the third shows this driver involved in the crash. Ataport.sys is the driver for ATAPI devices and it is a Windows system driver. It is not likely to be the real cause. Since you are getting BSOD's in the Safe mode; but you are able to run Memtest, which runs outside of Windows, it is likely to be a driver problem.

I only see one outdated driver on your system; but it is really obsolete. I suggest that you uninstall your obsolete Blackberry software. See if this helps your system.
Quote:
RimSerial_AMD64.sys Mon Nov 24 12:01:01 2008 - Virtual Serial Port driver for Blackberry. Research In Motion - Products.
Check your BIOS to make sure your hard drive is properly setup. If you don't have a manual for your motherboard, download one. How old is your BIOS? Is there an upgrade that addresses this problem? If you decide to flash your BIOS, do it outside of Windows.

Try removing all of your RAM sticks except one. Post back and let us know if any of these suggestions make any difference. If you get another BSOD after you uninstall the Blackberry software, upload it.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

i cant get into windows long enough to uninstall anything, so i cant uninstall the blackberry software.

I've checked the bios setup and its fine, forgot to mention i also updated to the latest bios before posting here.

Im gonna test loading into windows with only 1 stick of ram at a time. hopefully its not 3 strikes and im out lol

will reply back with results asap

Thanks

Ok i tried it with only 1 stick of ram and it booted into windows fine, and i uninstalled the blackberry software.

shut down the machine and turned it back on and enabled the audio, network and firewire i had disabled and it also booted up fine without any problems... again turned it off and put back the power to my 2 secondary drives, machine booted up again without any problems, although this time i left it idle for a bit longer period of time and opened IE, sure enough i got a BSOD, but this time it was 0x000000D1 which points specifically to the ataport.sys

Previously i had only tested my primary hdd, now im testing the other 2 drives(i didnt test them before because all of the drives are 1TB and larger and they take forever to test)

Please upload the dump file. Check your cables to your hard drive. Make sure you have them connected properly. Make sure all of your cable and wire connections are solid.

Dont think the last bsod's ive gotten have been dumped as my machine restarted almost instantaneously... I've been running PC-Check diagnostic software on my hdd's for the past 10hrs or so, so far nothing has failed but its still got another 14hrs or so id estimate to run..... (my secondary drives are 1.5Tb and 1Tb and im running read, read verify, mechanic stress, immediate, short and extended smart tests on both drives)

what do you suggest i should do if both drives pass all the tests?

I looked at your last four dumps. The oldest two still blame ataport.sys. The two most recent blame ntkrnlmp.exe, one of the Windows system core files and very unlikely to be the cause. All four error codes are different which usually means a hardware or hardware related problem (drivers). All of your drivers appear to be up to date.

Download and install Revo Uninstaller (free). Use it to uninstall Super AntiSpyware. Let's see if Super AntiSpyware is causing the conflict. If this does not solve the problem, you can reinstall it again once you get your system stable. Many third party security programs cause conflicts on some Win 7 systems. After you uninstall, reboot and see how your system does.

I notice that these dumps are occurring after rather short uptimes. This can sometimes indicate a power supply problem. Do you have access to a known good PSU you can try?

I recommend that you run Memtest86 to test your RAM following the instructions in this tutorial: RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Run Memtest from a cold boot after your computer has been off for an hour or two. Let it run for a minimum of 7 passes which will take 8-8 hours. If you see errors, you can stop the test. Post back with your results.

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
        use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
