Windows 7: 2 different bsod...

04 Jan 2011   #1

Windows 7 home premium 64bit

2 different bsod...

The first 1 happened last night and is The video scheduler has encountered an unexpected fatal error. I have also been getting a pop up every now(at first i only thought it was happening when i was trying to play a game but it has been doing it while searching the web also) and then saying "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." after the screen freezes and turns black then grey/greenish or white and back to black and the normal again.

I have also brought my computer into best buy's geek squad a few weeks ago and the found out that my hard drive was gone which was causing another bsod but last week i had to bring it back again about the pop up appearing and they couldn't find a problem but when the guy discribed it to me it sounded like it was still having the problem and sure enough if was as they were to stupid to alt tab to look to see if a pop up appeared after it froze while they were testing with a game running.

Thanks for uploading the files. Unfortunately, I cannot open the Perfmon report. But I will make do. I looked at your three most recent dumps as well as some of the other files you uploaded. Two of the dumps blame your video card and one blames a Windows system core file, which is highly unlikely to be the real cause. I see a couple of things going on.

If you are overclocking your video card, stop and return to default values. RivaTuner is obsolete; it is XP software. Uninstall this utility.

Uninstall BitDefender using this removal tool: Tool. Bit Defender is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems as are many third party AV programs. While you are troubleshooting, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE rarely causes a problem with Win 7.

Out of date drivers can and do cause conflicts memory corruption and BSOD's. I find the following outdated drivers loaded on your system. Those in red font are quite obsolete. Update these drivers or uninstall the software they are associated with.

How to find drivers -
Quote:
- I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box above. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page:
Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page:
Drivers and Downloads

Follow all of these suggestions, reboot and see how your system does. Post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there.
