    Blue Screen on new Rig

    Hey everyone

I am hoping someone can help me with my bsod problems. I have a new rig which was made up by a friend recently. Almost instantly I started having issues. He came around to have a look but everything worked fine for him (always the way) & continued to work well for the next week or two (granted it had very little use).

I was out of town for a little over a week so it didn't get used in that time. When I arrived back I switched it back on, the problems began almost instantly. The only thing I did to cause the first bsod this time was update my Norton Internet security as it was asking me too.

The bsod has happened several times since, as well has numerous Mozilla & Internet Explorer crashes, & also this strange little screen flash that coincides with me being disconnected from my router & internet. It will eventually flash again & switch back on ???

    My Rig is as follows.

    Intel core i5 650 3.20GHz (Clarkdale) (Socket LGA1156)
    Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard
    Geil Black Dragon 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC£-10666C9 1333MHz Triple Channel
    GTS250 512mb GDDR3 TV-Outdual DVI
    Western Digital RE2 500gb Sata II 16mb Cache (x2)
OCZ Stealth X STream 2 600w Power Supply

I am running Windows Ultimate 64 bit. I have had the system for under a month so am still on the trial version. i.e. I havn't entered a license key yet.

This is the info I am given from my bsod

Hi, Cracka, and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, your dumps do not point to anything specifically; so you will have to troublshoot by a process of elimination.

To begin, I suggest that you uninstall Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% or whatever CD virtualization software you are running. It uses a driver, found in your dump, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads. Select uninstall; do NOT select reinstall.

Here is a free alternative CD virtualization program that does not use the sptd.sys driver.
    Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview

Next, I recommend that you uninstall Norton. Norton is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems as are many third party security programs. There are valid reasons for this. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place while you are troubleshooting. Once you get your system stable, you can try Norton again; but I do not recommend doing so.

Uninstall CyberLink. Your version uses a driver that is quite obsolete: 000.fcl Fri Sep 26 09:11:22 2008.

Out of date drivers can and do cause BSOD's. I find the following outdated drivers loaded on your system. One of them is quite obsolete. Update these drivers through the links provided.
LHidFilt.Sys Wed Jun 17 12:49:39 2009 - Logitech SetPoint HID Filter Driver. Downloads.

LMouFilt.Sys Wed Jun 17 12:49:43 2009 - Logitech SetPoint HID Filter Driver. Downloads.

MTiCtwl.sys Tue Nov 04 02:40:50 2008 - MagicTunePremium or PortTalk Driver V by Samsung Electronics, Inc or Beyond Logic. Samsung
or Beyond Logic. Update this driver or uninstall the software it is associated with.

netr28ux.sys Wed Feb 25 21:49:17 2009 - Ralink RT2870 series USB 802.11n Wireless Adapter Driver (you may have a different manufacturer). Ralink corp..
    - I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box above. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page:
    Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page:
    Drivers and Downloads
Follow all of the suggestions, reboot and see how your system runs. Please update us and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there.

    BSOD here to stay?

    Hi there,

Thanks for the tips, I tried all of what you asked me to try (at least I'm sure I did) & unfortunately I'm still getting the BSOD (4x tonight already) along with the constant Internet explorer, Mozilla Firefox & Chrome crashes.

I uninstalled Norton & installed Microsoft Security Essentials. Everytime I try update this (as requested) it too causes the system to crash.

I tried twice to get the info in the zip file as last time (not sure if new one is required) both time having no luck with the comp crashing.

This is what the crash tells me:

Hi Cracka. Sorry you are still having problems. Please upload the dumps and we will take a look. Most of us here use WinDBug for analyzing dumps and we can get a lot more info than just a posting from BlueScreen gives us.

Four dumps an four different error codes. This usually means a hardware/hardware related problem. Notice the usual causes of this different bugcheck codes.
Bugcheck 3B, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory

Bugcheck 7E, SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Usual causes: Insufficient disk space, Device driver, Video card, BIOS, Breakpoint with no debugger attached, Hardware incompatibility, Faulty system service, Memory, 3rd party remote control,

Bugcheck 24, NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM. Usual causes: Disk corruption, insufficient physical memory, Device driver, Indexing, Resident antivirus, backup, defrag programs, Disk/Drive failing/failure

Bugcheck 1E, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Usual causes: Device driver, hardware, System service, compatibility, Remote control programs, memory, BIOS.
You have done a good job with updating drivers. I only find one out of date driver loaded on your system. Update this driver or uninstall the software it is associted with.
MTiCtwl.sys Tue Nov 04 02:40:50 2008 - MagicTunePremium or PortTalk Driver V by Samsung Electronics, Inc or Beyond Logic. Samsung
or Beyond Logic. Update this driver or uninstall the software it is associated with or rename the driver from .sys to .old.

Because of bugcheck 24, I suggest that you run CheckDisk -
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt. Please do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter. Then reboot and let the test run. It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors. See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

    Elevated Command Prompt:
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

    CHKDSK LogFile:
Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Windows 7).
Copy/paste the results into your next post.

If after taking care of the outdated driver and if there no hard drive problems and you are still getting BSOD's, I recommend that you test your RAM with Memtest86. Follow the instructions in this tutorial:
RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Run Memtest from a cold boot after your computer has been off for an hour or two. Let it run for a minimum of seven passes. This will take 6-8 hours. If you see any errors, you can stop the test. Post back with your results.

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002db90f3, The address that the exception occurred at

    CHKDSK pasted below

    Hey CarlTR6

I uninstalled the programme as requested and have run CHKDSK with results posted below. I have not had a BSOD since uninstalling the out of date programme (1 day ago, fingers crossed).

    Kind regards

    Cracka
