BSOD - New build - HELP!!!

THis is a fresh install of Win 7 Pro (x64) on hardware that is less than a year old.

Im getting random BSOD since the install last night. Normally the screen will go jacked then BSOD.
Trying to figure out how to duplicate it so far no luck.

Since the install, I have only installed Mozilla, Thunderbird, and a few other small apps. Im thinking its some
type of driver issue - any help would be great!

    Thanks
    Rob

Hi, Rob; and welcome to the forum. Your dump is BugCheck 1E and the dump blames usbuhci.sys, which a Windows system driver and very unlikely to be the real cause. What USB devices do you have plugged in?

I suggest that you download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE supersedes Defender, runs very smoothly with Win 7 and offers superior protection to that of Defender. MSE will turn Defender off. It needs no action on your part.

I find two out of date drivers loaded on your system. Outdated drivers can caus econflicts, memory corruption and crashes. Update these drivers through the links provided. iaStorV.sys was involved in the crash. This does necessarily mean that it was the cause.
    iaStorV.sys Wed Apr 08 12:57:17 2009 - Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver (base). http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx.

    Rt64win7.sys Thu Feb 26 04:04:13 2009 - Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC Realtek.
Update these two drivers and install MSE. Reboot and see if your system is more stable. Post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD, please upload the dump and we will go from there.

    carl,
Thanks for the quick reply. That BSOD I just had an external USB drive plugged in. The machine has been pretty solid since this post. Of course I come back from lunch, touch the mouse to login and bang - BSOD!
    No USB was attached.

I will try what you mention above and let you know what happens. Thanks again.

Just a quick question - would you recommend Microsoft Security Essentials over BitDefender? (or can they be used together?)
    Thanks

I would definitely recommend MSE over BitDefender. BitDefender has been know to cause BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. This is true of most third party security software. It is due to the new internal security coding in Win 7. As a general rule, do not run two antivirus programs or firewall programs simultaneously. That is a recipe for disaster.

If you are looking for a third party AV that generally runs very well with Win 7, try Avast. It was redesigned to run in Win 7. In fact, one of the few exceptions to the rule I mentioned above is MSE and Avast. They can run simultaneously without conflict.

Well Carl, I want to thank you a bunch. It seems the raid driver updates did the trick. Been hammering the system for a while now and no issues. Lets see what tomorrow will bring

    Thanks again
