BSOD Persisting for 3 months (Have Fresh Dump File)

    Is Windows 7 . . .
    - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? 64
    - the original installed OS on the system? Yes. Built & Installed Win7 Myself
    - an OEM or full retail version? That's tricky. I bought it here from newegg. Says OEM though.
    - OEM = came pre-installed on system
    - Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer
    - What is the age of system (hardware)? Everything but the case and graphics card is <4 months old. The Card is from around July and the case is a few years old but irrelevant to my problems.
    - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) Reinstalled it Tuesday this week (1/11)

    Here is the problem:
During any game (Blur, LFD2, Assassin's Creed II, WoW, and even Minecraft) this new system can and will blue screen at least once a day. The Blue screen notes are a handful of things but I've narrowed it down to a few errors in the event viewer (see attached). Windows has not found resolutions but blames it on hardware.

Here are the extents of my troubleshooting methods:
Setting Ram to anything from 1.50 to 1.58 (They're rated at 1.50 but tried higher just in case)
    I am not overclocking anything.
    I've tried running
I had the same graphics card (ATi 5830) in my XP setup and never crashed during games. I've also tried a new graphics card (EVGA gtx 470) and still get the same errors.
For a while, posted in the event viewer were file size problems for Readyboost/Readyboot. I troubleshot that by increasing the size limit for Readyboost in regedit (still crashed) and then turning off Superfetch (8GB of ram...) but the BSODS persisted.
    I upgraded my PSU from a 650W corsair to a 800w corsair.
I tried using one memory stick or the other.
I unplugged my printer - didn't crash for a day. Crashed next day, same error.
I unplugged my USB Mic & 2.1 Speakers - didn't crash for 2 days, crashed next day, same error.
I get the same crashes if I only have my main 300GB Raptor hooked up (disconnecting External 2TB MyBook and removing internal 1TB Caviar Green).
I'll run only the game, nothing else. Still crashes even though I desperately need to be able to run Ventrilo or Mumble while the game is going.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the ATi drivers at least 15 times, using DriverCleaner in between the remove/readd.
I flashed and updated to the latest bios from Windows.
I flashed and updated to the latest bios from a formatted USB Thumbdrive.

I reinstalled windows from a completely clean reformat on Tuesday 1/11. I only installed WoW, Mumble, Graphics drivers, Winamp, Google Chrome, Last.fm, Avira, CCCP and Google Talk. Worked fine until crashes last night and today. Also installed utorrent but I don't run it while I play games.

I'm really upset because I don't want to shell out another $700-1000 for a rebuild and these parts are out of the return limit on Newegg. The error messages scream software/bios setting but I can't seem to find out what to do.

    Please help :_(

Hi Kellar and welcome to the forum. I looked at both of your dumps. One blames nvlddmkm.sys, your video driver and references corrupt memory. The other blames hardware and references corrupt memory. Let's begin the troubleshooting by looking for drivers tan may be causing conflicts with your video subsystem and your system in general.

For the purposes of troubleshooting, I recommend that you uninstall Avira. Avira is known to cause BSOD's on some Win 7 systems are do many third party AV programs. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. You can try Avira again once you know your system is stable.

I find two out of date drivers loaded on your system. One is very obsolete and an XP driver. Update these drivers through the links provided or uninstall the software or device they are associated with. Software designed for XP is not going to work with Win 7 except in the XP mode. Either or both of these drivers have the potential to cause BSOD's.
    RTCore64.sys Wed May 25 02:39:12 2005 - RivaTuner/EVGA Precision/MSI Afterburner (known issues w/Win7). http://www.guru3d.com/category/rivatuner/. Uninstall Riva Tuner or MSI.

    yk62x64.sys Mon Feb 23 10:02:27 2009 - NDIS6.2 Miniport Drive, http://www.marvell.com/support.html. Update this network driver.
Uninstall Avira, update the Marvel driver, and uninstall RivaTuner or MSI. Reboot and see how your system runs. Update us and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there.

    Thanks Carl,

I uninstalled Avira and installed MSE.
    I updated the Marvell driver.
However, I use EVGA Precision and it is the most updated version straight from their site. I had blue screens before I installed it (with a different graphics card) and it regulates fan speed among other things with my current gtc 470. Not sure why it is reporting as out of date.

Going to try gaming today and I'll update with my results.

    Thanks again!

You are very welcome. Regarding EVGA Precision, that is an XP driver with known problems in Win 7. If that is their most recent driver, the software is obsolete as far as Win 7 is concerned. It is not even a Vista driver.

Kellar, in place of EVGA Precision, I highly recommend MSI Afterburner, which is newer and works much better with Windows 7, I use it when I game and have not had any issues.

Regarding your error, it could be due to under volted/overvolted RAM as well as bad drivers, or corrupt RAM. Have you tried running an overnight session of MemTest+ to make sure if that's the issue. You could also try running Prime95 on Blend to see if that causes any issues as well.

I have an odd feeling that's gotta be bugged or something as far as the date goes, I'm not sure. It was updated late last year and it's compatible with every os. EVGA isn't one to suggest & develop a product to their customers that is going to produce poor gaming performance.

Not trying to be argumentative or turn down advice - I'm just more than positive it's not what caused the Blue Screens because I had them when I was using an ATi Radeon 5830 and used ATi's drivers & CCC.

I've tried many voltage settings on the ram because that's what a buddy at work suggested as well. I'd have to try the memtest+ tonight.

On a positive note, haven't crashed yet today.

Also worthy of noting - it would *only* crash during gaming. Never when watching movies or just browsing the web. It could be memory intensive, the network driver might be it as well. I'll try memtest tonight. Thanks!

Have you tried the voltage settings that the manufacture suggested/timings? Bad timings will cause BSODs as surely as bad voltage.

Same for the CPU, minus timings.

Don't forget Prime95 as well, it's an excellent way to test the CPU/Memory without affecting the video card, to isolate it from the crashes.

I've tried 1.50 which is the manufactur suggested voltage. I've also tried everything in between there and 1.58.

I need to double check the timing as well as the CPU. I read up on Prime95. I'll run it either tonight instead or tomorrow night. Hopefully get this solved by Tuesday (3 day weekend testing is handy)

I allowed prime95 to run from around 6 until now.

    Attached are results.
