great, the BSOD problem isn't fixed. when the pc is in use, it works fine. but i just went downstairs for dinner (now about an hour ago), and when i got up windows was just finishing a reboot

i added another set of files.... could somone please look at it? tnx

this is what the tiny screen said at boot:

    BCCode: 50
    BCP1: FFFFFA0007CD5540
    BCP2: 0000000000000000
    BCP3: FFFFF80002B8A80C
    BCP4: 0000000000000007
    OS Version: 6_1_7600
    Service Pack: 0_0
    Product: 256_1

edit: this may be caused by a HDD failure... i just changed the HDD-shutdown time in energy control right after i posted this. 45 mins later my pc hasn't BSOD'd yet. i'm leaving it on to see if there's anything else that might've caused it.

Hi Nighthawk. I looked at both of your dumps. One blames atikmdag.sys, a video driver, and indicates memory corruption. The second directly blames memory corruption. I see a couple of things that can be causing the memory corruption.

    1. Update this driver it is an almost guaranteed BSOD maker.
    Code:
    ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
    Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

    2. The following out of date drivers are loaded on your system. Outdated drivers can cause conflicts, memory corruption and BSOD's. Update these drivers through the links provided.
netr28ux.sys Wed Feb 25 21:49:17 2009 - Ralink RT2870 series USB 802.11n Wireless Adapter Driver (you may have a different manufacturer). Ralink corp..

    Rt64win7.sys Thu Feb 26 04:04:13 2009 - Realtek NIC. Realtek.
Follow these suggestions, reboot, and see how your system does. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there and possibly address your video drivers, depending on what the dump shows.

It looks like you made it four days between BSOD's. Your dump is bugcheck A, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. The usual cases are: Kernel mode driver, System Service, BIOS, Windows, Virus scanner, Backup tool, compatibility. The dump blames memory corruption.

All of your drivers appear to be up to date. Third party antivirus and firewall programs cause BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. For troubleshooting purposes I recommend that you uninstall Comodo. Download Revo Uninstaller (free) and use it to completely remove Comodo. I do not know if Comodo is the cause; the firewall generally runs pretty well with Win 7. But we need to eliminate it as a possibility, especially if you are running the antivirus. If you are running the suite, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials and make sure Windows Firewall is turned on. Once you get your stable stable, you can try Comodo again. Reboot and see how your system does.

I also suggest that you test your RAM with Memtest86+ following the instructions in this tutorial: RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Run Memtest from a cold boot after your computer has been off for at least an hour. Let it run for a minimum of 7 passes. This will take 6-8 hours. Post back with your results.

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: fffffa00066258d8, memory referenced
    Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
    Arg3: 0000000000000000, bitfield :
        bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)

yes, i suspected a faulty RAM stick... sometimes windows/BIOS shows 4GB instead of the actual 6GB i have installed. though what i don't get is why 1 RAM stick would be broken, it worked for the past 6 months? and when i tried OC'ing my graphics card, i never got to overvolting or anything so what made it break? o.o

anyway, thanks again. i will run it tonight and see what happens :)

12 hours and 9 passes later, memtest shows 0 errors

it has been idling all night (well, memtesting), and i didn't get a BSOD or reboot. that means it isn't hardware related, right?

anyway, comodo has been running very well for the past 6 months, so i can't see why it would suddenly get angry at my system all of a sudden, but you'll know. i'll remove it and post again when i get a BSOD. if i don't get a BSOD after a few nights of idling, i'll post back. if i do get a BSOD... then i'll post back too, lol.

edit: COMODO doesn't show on REVO uninstaller. i've just removed it via windows, and then ran CCleaner. is it a major problem that it doesn't show up?

Very good. I wonder why Comodo did not show up on Revo; that it is interesting. Bu, no, it is not a major problem. Glad to hear your RAM passed Memtest. What that means is you RAM is probably OK. I say"probably" because Memtest like any hardware test is not 100% perfect. I have read in the hardware section about BIOS and Windows not reporting all of the RAM installed. You might do some searching in that section or post the question and let the hardware Guru's help you with that. Hardware is not my area of expertise.

I run Comodo and Avast with no problems on my 32 bit system.
