    [Win7 BSOD] ntoskrnl.exe+70740

    Hello all,

Girlfreind's computer runs into BSOD's quite a bit; the frequency is irregular but, after running Blue Screen Veiwer I found that the driver it points to as the problem is ntoskrnl.exe+70740.

A quick look around in device manager shows that most drivers are up to date in terms of the hardware, minus the CD/DVD rom drive that has a driver that is from 2006 that Windows deems up to date. Probably not it. Computer runs pretty clean; checking with Process Explorer most things are Windows operations, with McAfee VSE (virus scan enterprise) as protection and Zonealarm as a firewall.

    Regarding the computer itself:

Windows7 Home Premium, 64-bit full retail.
    Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop
    Dual-Core 4300 @ 2.10 Ghz, no overclocking
Laptop is about a year old, and the OS hasn't been reinstalled.

I'm running jcgriff's utility now, and will post the dumps when I get them.

    Thanks in advance,
    -MP

    Dumps attached.

Some interesting notes from the user.
    • BSOD's ususally occur at user's home when other computers are acsessing the wireless network. Alone, rarely happens. Wireless is standard WEP encrypted. IPv6 is turned off, which is curious.
    • Other locations yeild less, if any, BSODs. The wireless networks at these locations are also WEP, and other machines are acsessing the wireless for prolonged amounts of time.
    • Problem has occired since the summer (BSV shows 6/1 as the first crash).
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

    Good, good.

It appears you are victim to a bug in Windows. Install this hotfix: Stop error message when you run an application that transfers data by using the UDP protocol in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows 7: "STOP 0x0000007F"

That should do the trick. If not, post back with a new report, and we'll be sure to get it resolved.
