    IRQL not equal or greater value BSOD randomly

    I randomly get this BSOD through out the day most of the time it happens after logging into windows, sometimes it'll happen 3-4 times in a row I keep rebooting until it's fixed. I thought it was my antivirus disabling it in safemode allowed my computer to boot and worked fine for a day but now it's happening again. I disabled almost every service not associated with Microsoft I've done hours of research but can't find anything! Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

    Asus M50VMSeries, computer's about 3 years old.

    Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads
    You can use MagicDisc as an alternative.
    Code:
    BugCheck A, {8, 2, 0, fffff80002cb0d29}

    Unable to load image \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\sptd.sys, Win32 error 0n2
    *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for sptd.sys
    *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for sptd.sys
    Code:
    sptd.sys        fffff880`010cb000    fffff880`011f1000    0x00126000    0x4ad24632    12/10/2009 00:55:14

    Upload the latest dump files located in C:\Windows\Minidump

    The latest one happened when I tried installing a disk defrag program. I don't know if this helps but it has also crashed when I've used the option to safely remove an external HDD, and also when anything I tried to do with Google Chrome would give me a BSOD (which I have uninstalled)

    sptd.sys is still the cause, boot into safe mode and go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers
    Locate sptd.sys and rename it to sptd.sys.old

    Thanks once again this will be the next step once I get back from work. How can I ensure that another program won't try to utilize this driver/reinstall it and cause my system to bluescreen once again? I will certainly not use alcohol120 or dameon tools but just incase any other program has to use this dreaded sptd.sys driver. Would I just be better off reinstalling Windows?

    sptd.sys is only used by some programs which mount CD/DVD images and the alike.
    By renaming to driver to .old no software will be able to use it

    I looked inside of C:\Windows\System32\drivers and can not find sptd.sys. I tried doing a search of the entire windows folder but can't find the driver, any ideas?
