Beginning to experience periodic BSODs

I've been experiencing quite a few BSODs lately. Here are some specs along with the requested system info.

Windows 7 Home 64bit OEM
Radeon 5770
Q8300 CPU
System is only 2 years old.

Thanks a lot

Hi, RubberDucky. Both of your dumps are nearly identical; both are bugcheck 3B, System Service Exception; both indicate memory corruption; and both blame you video driver, atikmdag.sys. Before we look at you video subsystem, you should troubleshoot some things that can cause conflicts with your video and memory corruption.

To begin this process, I recommend that you uninstall Eset using this removal tool: Tool. Your version of Eset is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place while you are troubleshooting. MSE is unlikely to cause a conflict. Once you get your system stable, you can try Eset again; but don't install your current version. Get the latest version.

It appears that you are running two antivirus programs: Eset and Panda. Two AV programs running simultaneously is an almost surefire source of conflict and crashes. Even if one is not running, the drivers are loaded. Your version of Panda has an outdated driver. And Panda, as are many third party AV programs, is known to cause BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Uninstall Panda using this removal tool:
Tool. I strongly suggest that you do not reinstall Panda.

I recommend that you uninstall Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% or whatever CD virtualization software you are running. It uses a driver, found in your dump, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads. Select uninstall; do NOT select reinstall.

Here is a free alternative CD virtualization program that does not use the sptd.sys driver.
Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview

Next, you have out of date drivers loaded on your system. Some are quite obsolete and are XP drivers. Outdated drivers can and do cause conflicts, memory corruption and BSOD's. Update the following drivers through the links provided or uninstall the software or hardware they are associated with.
ManyCam_x64.sys Thu Mar 13 03:46:01 2008 - ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Download ManyCam free virtual webcam and webcam graphics software!.

pavboot64.sys Mon Jun 29 07:50:23 2009 - Panda ActiveScan Boot Driver. Online support for Panda Antivirus product users- Panda Security.

pcouffin.sys Tue Dec 05 09:39:30 2006 - low level access layer for CD devices (A part of many different CD/DVD burning programs). VSO Download DVD Burning Software, convert AVI to DVD, video converter, DVD copy to DVD slideshow photo
rename to pcouffin.old and see what CD/DVD program it breaks. See below for more information.

sfhlp02.sys Wed Jun 14 10:58:06 2006 - StarForce Protection Technology Helper Driver. Software Protection. Update Remove Driver. If there is no Win 7 driver update for this software, uninstall it. It is obsolete.

sfvfs02.sys Wed Jun 14 13:14:35 2006 - StarForce Protection Environment Driver. Software Protection. Update Remove Driver. See above.
pcouffin.sys information:

Patin Couffin driver
and Pcouffin.sys and missing DVD drives!?!?!?. You can use VSO Clean to remove the driver.

Follow all of the above suggestions to eliminate possible conflicts and sources of memory corruption. Reboot and see how your system runs. Post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload the dump we will look at your video subsystem depending on what the dump shows us.

Windows 7

I've spoken too soon it seems. I just came back to my computer to find it BSOD'd.

Assuming we can rule out the other factors it's probably the GPU driver like you said. I've only changed 2 things relating to the GPU since I've been getting BSODs. I hooked up a second monitor and installed new drivers.

It may also be worth mentioning I experienced the BSOD after I turned my monitor off and left my computer alone for 1-2 hours.

I've also included the dump from the crash I just experienced. So far I've only removed and reinstalled earlier drivers for my GPU.

You have an old driver to take care of.

Uninstall all Adobe Software and replace with a newer version from Adobe Website.
I suggest that you uninstall ESET (if you have a license - ask ESET for a refund, if you can)
Do NOT uninstall ESET from Programs & Features, please follow this KB article from ESET on removing it manually.

How do I manually uninstall my ESET security product? - ESET Knowledgebase

Use Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials. It is free, easy to use and more stable.

Thank you, I've uninstalled the driver and completely removed any ESET products from my computer. No crashes for 1 day but I'll post if something happens.
