Brand new computer with no other software installed. Will not shut down without BSOD.

Is Windows 7 . . .- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?- the original installed OS on the system? Win 7 32bit- an OEM or full retail version? OEM- OEM = came pre-installed on system- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer - What is the age of system (hardware)? Dec 2010- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) orgininal install

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a wireless HP printer on the network, so I unstalled it from the laptop. I also went to HP's website and updated the BIOS and still have the BSOD when shutting down. Nothing else connected to this machine. it is basically new out of the box.

Dean is spot on.

Something may be conflicting with the HP driver. I see that you are running Windows Defender and Avast. Generally the rule of thumb is to run only one antivirus. Two running simultaneously can create conflicts. The exception to this rule is Microsoft Security Essentials and Avast. They generally run well together. If you wish to run two antivirus programs, download and install MSE. It supersedes Defender, offers superior protection, and runs smoothly with Win 7. MSE will turn Defender off. It you don't wish to run two AV's, disable Defender.

Try one of the two above options and see if that helps your system's stability.

I uninstalled Avast AV and disabled Windows Defender. I have the same BSOD at shutdown. Should I upload new .dmp files? Thank you all for your help at this point.
