    Random Crashes / Hangs

    Alright-
There are no specific times or applications in use when these hangs happen. I have been trying to troubleshoot and analyze my issue for about a month now so I can ensure to have the best information prior to posting.

ISSUE: My computer hangs at random times / resets at random times / and today for the first time there was a physical memory dump (BSOD) reset while I was sitting at the computer to enjoy.

    System information:
    Windows 7 (64-bit) OS
    AMD 64 X (2.9GHZ)
    4GB RAM
150 GB HDD for OS / Applications
    1TB drive for data

The best information that I can give you all to provide advice on what to do is the Error, Warning, and Critical logs in event viewer.. Attached is the last 24hrs worth... Any thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated as I have spent a while searching each individual event ID with a million suggestions for each... If anybody knows of a better way to post the event viewer information on this forum plz let me know- document is a bit large...

**** Please give me a few minutes as I am reading the instructions for this forum and will post back with the information from the application I just downloaded- my apologies for not doing this first****

Alright- Here are the files in proper format listed in the instructions thread.... Not sure really what to do because all of the hangs / crashes are really random... Thanks in advance!

    Hi NTXHeat and Welcome.

Your dump file is giving an error of 0xF4 which is inconclusive.

    STOP 0x000000F4: CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION
    Usual causes:

The sptd.sys driver is notorious for causing BSOD's with Windows 7. It's used by Daemon Tools /Alcohol 120 which will also have to be uninstalled.
Then use the correct Duplex Secure Download for your system in Safe Mode.
    Make sure to select uninstall!

Some other drive emulation software that doesn't use sptd.sys:
PowerISO (Paid for program but the virtual drive is free).
    DVDFab
    MagicDisc

I'm looking at the rest of your dump file for other drivers that may cause problems.

Although the dump points to csrss.exe, this Windows System file is unlikely to be the cause of your BSOD.

Avast has been known to be a cause of BSOD's on some Windows 7 systems.
Uninstall Avast using the Avast ASW Clear Tool for your system until your issue is resolved, when you can reinstall it if you wish. Download BSOD friendly Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled.

    Fimble-
Sorry about the long wait for me to get back to you- I was in class late last night. I have a few questions for you and wanted to update you on where I am on the issues. I uninstalled avast and alcohol 120%. I updated the ultraISO driver and ConvertXDvD driver. I will re-post if anything else happens from this point on. My questions are:
I suppose I didnt understand your post when you wrote: Then use the correct uninstaller in Safe Mode for your set up to remove sptd.sys:
    Duplex Secure 32bit
    Duplex Secure 64bit
    Make sure to select uninstall!
I am unclear on what duplex secure is. I was wondering if you might be able to inform me on what this program is for. If it has to do with the alcohol 120% manual uninstall I did go into regedit and get rid of those files. Also:
I am unable to find what driver is needed for the AsIO.sys file issue. I googled it and I googled Asus PCProbe Utility and nothing specific came up. Would you mind letting me know what driver this is? Thank you for your help and any future assistance you provide.

DT & Alcohol use a driver, sptd.sys, that is made by Duplex Secure. When you uninstall DT or Alcohol they leave the problematic driver sptd.sys behind to carry on its mayhem.
So to remove the sptd driver you have to down load its installer. When you run the installer (in Safe Mode!!) you get an option to remove or uninstall it. Thats the option you choose.

    When I say the right uninstaller, I mean for Windows 7 32bit (x86) or Windows 7 64bit.
You're running 64bit so download the second one down SPTD for Windows XP/2003/Vista/Windows 7 (64 bit).

Asus PCProbe Utility The link you have takes you to your Mobo website. You put in your motherboards details then you'll get a drop list of drivers etc. go through the lists looking for Asus PCProbe Utility (try utilities first). If you find it check the date against: Mon Apr 06 08:21:08 2009. If the latest offering has that date then it can't be updated and would be better to uninstall/disable the AsIo.sys driver.

Post your mobo series and model numbers/type if you want and I can have a hunt as well!!

    HTH

UPDATE!! ASUS Probe Utility - Uninstall. Causes a lot of BSOD's.
