| Windows 7: Keep getting "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shut down" |

Keep getting "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shut down" This problem seems to be continuing to happen to me. I recently upgraded video cards from a Sapphire HD5770 to a Sapphire HD6870. After swapping out the cards my computer would encounter this problem if it sat idle for a period of time. Thinking it was a faulty card, I swapped back to my old 5770, and didn't encounter the problem until today. I says in the "Action Center" problem reports that "Windows shut down unexpectedly". The only thing I have done to the computer was replaced the video card. I also just recently ran windows setup on my computer (without formatting the hdd). That didn't resolve the issue.
I have included the mindump file. | My System Specs |

Hopefully I've done everything correctly.
System info:
-Windows 7 x64
-It's the only OS I've installed on this system
-I believe it's full retail (I build the computer and purchased a student copy of Windows)
-The hardware is pretty new, I put the system together last October
-I reinstalled the OS on the 25th. Before that it has been the same install since I built it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU AMD Phenom II x6 1050t Motherboard Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 Memory Corsair Dominator (2X2GB) Graphics Card Sapphire HD5770 Sound Card On-board sound Monitor(s) Displays 24" Asus PSU Antec 950W Case Antec 1200 Cooling Corsair H50 Hard Drives 1 500GB Western Digital Black |

You did just right. Thanks. Quote: Bugcheck 3B, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory. The dump blames atikmdag.sys, your video driver, for the crash. This driver is up to date. Something else could be conflicting with your video subsystem.
On this note I suggest that you uninstall AVG using this removal tool: Tool (64 bit). If you have AVG Identity Protection installed, remove it with this tool: Tool. AVG is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems, as are many third party security programs. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place.
Update this driver through the link provided: Quote: Rt64win7.sys Thu Feb 26 04:04:13 2009 - Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. Realtek. Follow these two suggestions, reboot and run your system. Post back and let us know how it runs. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there. Thanks for the suggestion. I will try those tonight when I get home. I thought originally it could have been a faulty video card since that's when all the problems started. I had read that the ATI drivers caused some problems with Vista, so I didn't know if that was the case with Windows 7 as well. Maybe this way I won't actually have to RMA my video card! | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU AMD Phenom II x6 1050t Motherboard Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 Memory Corsair Dominator (2X2GB) Graphics Card Sapphire HD5770 Sound Card On-board sound Monitor(s) Displays 24" Asus PSU Antec 950W Case Antec 1200 Cooling Corsair H50 Hard Drives 1 500GB Western Digital Black |

You are welcome. It will be nice if your problem is solved that easily. The dump did not indicate your video card; but that does not rule it out. Thanks for the advise on AVG, that seems to have fixed the problem of bringing my computer out of sleep, and seeing a crash report, but now I am having a different issue. Since I was no longer seeing the previous issue occur again I reinstalled my Sapphire HD 6870. Since then I have had windows crash twice. The crash seems to occur when I try to watch a You Tube video that I've had open over night (not the same video in each instance of the crash). It doesn't happen every time. When the crash does occur, the video turns green (with audio still playing normally), and my monitor will flicker a few times, ending in a BSOD. The computer goes into sleep mode without problems
I've also included a folder with all the nessecery info (as per the BSOD sticky). I've also included the mini-dumps from both crashes. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU AMD Phenom II x6 1050t Motherboard Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 Memory Corsair Dominator (2X2GB) Graphics Card Sapphire HD5770 Sound Card On-board sound Monitor(s) Displays 24" Asus PSU Antec 950W Case Antec 1200 Cooling Corsair H50 Hard Drives 1 500GB Western Digital Black |

Thought I'd give this a little bump. I keep getting this same crash every few days. Anyone have any thoughts? I went ahead a reverted to a previous video card driver (on from December) thinking that might be the problem, but alas, same crash. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU AMD Phenom II x6 1050t Motherboard Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 Memory Corsair Dominator (2X2GB) Graphics Card Sapphire HD5770 Sound Card On-board sound Monitor(s) Displays 24" Asus PSU Antec 950W Case Antec 1200 Cooling Corsair H50 Hard Drives 1 500GB Western Digital Black |

Since no one has answered, I thought I'd move this to the top. This is an issue I am still encountering, so if anyone has any advise, PLEASE, I need help.
