i've been having stability issues trying to get 16Gb to run on my system. i've also had 3 meltdown in the past month and reloading my program-heavy system is taking a toll on production...
before last week's meltdown, i contacted corsair and was told to reset the bios to defaults which i did and it kinda worked - i only had one or two of the random system restarts (no BSOD) in a couple of weeks compared to many restarts per day.
last week, on 16Gb, i got stuck at the login screen and was unable to recover from it, therefore having to reluctantly reinstall. in order to reinstall, i have to take some memory out - in this case, i installed with 8Gb.
Something took on this install because it has been running great - except when i tried to reinstall all of the 16 gigs - now i got the BSOD. i reset the bios - same results... the fix has been to remove 4Gb of expensive memory i took out 4Gb and she's a stable as a rock
i've contacted Asus asking them why their boards say they're supposed to support 16Gb because i've yet to reallly see it happen...
Is this a hardware or software thing?
windows logs and dumps are different pretty much every time
