BSOD once after long period shutdown

Hi everyone,

I have a BSOD once after a long period where the PC has been shut down (1-2 hours+). After that the PC will work without any problems for the rest of the day. I tried safe mode after a long shutdown and it works fine. Memtest and Western Digital HDD Diagnostic came out clean.

Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Full Retail Copy
Hardware is around 8-9months old
Current OS intallation is about a week old

Not sure if I zipped the required files correctly, first time I tried it

Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to Seven Forums,

I would first uninstall AVG - including Identity Protection. AVG and third party anti-virus can cause conflicts and cause BSOD. Once you're done removing AVG, use this removal tool to remove all the left overs: AVG - Download tools

Use Microsoft Security Essentials as replacement: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Next, update this 2005 ASUS Driver (read the note for the instruction)

Quote:
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

Hello and thanks for the welcome.

Ok, I uninstalled AVG and reinstalled Microsoft Security Essentials. I actually had that originally installed but noticed it had some errors in event viewer, so I just experimented with AVG. I also updated the driver. I will see how it goes after I turn off my PC over night. Fingers crossed I hope it works

Thanks for the help

Unfortunately, the problem still occurs. BSOD first thing after the PC has been shut off over night, then works fine right after. I have attached the latest dump files.
