Graphics Card related BSOD problem.
Hi,
About two months ago I built my own PC, for a month everything went great. Then my hardrive failed, fair enough I thought and bought a new one, didn't really loose much. About a week later, everything was going fine again but then I was playing Half Life two and these weird lines/dots appeared all over my screen, then my PC BSOD'd then reset it self.
Half Life Two is my favourite game, I also play a mod for Half Life called Garry's Mod. After that first BSOD, I could play Garry's mod/Half Life 2 for about an hour before it happened, I was happy to do this, but gradually the time became less and less. Now the moment I open it I get a BSOD (as soon as I go into game).
After testing games, all seemed fine except Source games (Half Life 2, Counter Strike Source, Team Fortress 2 etc.) So I stayed away from them despite them being my favourite games.
I was playing Knight's of the old republic a really old game, and that was fine. Then I played Black Op's on extra high detail for around three hours straight and no BSOD. I also tried GTA IV, on high detail works fine played it for hours and hours no problem. Knight's of the old republic a really old game also has this BSOD error, and Star Wars Galaxies. It is REALLY starting to bug me now.
It has only happened once outside of a game and I was browsing the internet. My dad thought it was a loose wire or something, so he wobbled every part of my PC and nothing happened. He replaced everything with bits from his PC (EXCEPT THE GRAPHICS CARD) and it still happed, I got a old hardrive, formatted it, put a fresh install of Windows 7 on and it still happened.
I just don't get it, it's driving me crazy and it's really upsetting
I am running
Windows 7 - 32bit - Full retail.
2.8 dual core cpu
XFX HD RADEON 4850
2 Gig Ram
Also it's not heat, straight after it was crashing I was putting my hand on the graphics card and it was freezing. My room which my PC is in is freezing all the time aswell and I have my case side fan on aswell as a hole in the front where the CD drive is meant to be and it's not even getting warm.
Many thanks for reading, and many more thanks for trying to help me <3
