Random BSOD codes??

Hi,

I put together a computer system myself a few months ago. Of course not my core business but I still wanted to try. So far so good but after a while i got a lot of BSOD messages which i can't understand.

I have run Memcheck86 for a while, it's not reporting a problem with my memory.

Could you guys help me out?

I'm running Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit.
Complete system setup in my profile.

I have attached the BSOD_docs.zip files

Thanks in advance.

Hi Kroese and welcome to the forum. Thank you for uploading the information. I looked at your four latest dumps. The blame memory corruption Windows system files, which are highly unlikely to be the real cause.

I suggest that you completely uninstall Norton using this removal tool: Tool. Norton is known to cause BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Once you know your system is stable, you can try it again; but I do not recommend doing so. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in place of Norton. MSE runs very smoothly with Win 7.

I see that you are running Comodo firewall. Comodo generally runs pretty well with Win 7; but it is known to cause conflicts on some Win 7 systems. If you wish, you can leave for the time being and see how your system does.

You have some outdated drivers loaded on your system. Out of date drivers can cause conflicts, memory corruption and BSOD's. Those red font are quite obsolete. Update the following drivers using the links provided.

Follow all of the above suggestions, reboot and see how your system runs. Please post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD after following these suggestions, upload it and we will go from there.

Thanks for the quick answer!

I have deinstalled Norton, so var no BSOD's only still some rare windows errors.
See screendump in zip archive.

I'm going ahead with the other points you told me.
Do you perhaps know a good substitute firewall?

Bye the way should I update to the latest BIOS version available or isn't it really neccesary?!?!
Perhaps better than updating drivers first???

Well I let you know how i'm getting along.

P.S. How to uninstall Marvinbus without uninstalling Pinnacle Studio? Do you have a suggestion?

Thanks

Thank you for the update and you are welcome for the help.

Glad to hear your system is running better and you have not had another BSOD. For now, make sure Windows Firewall is turned on. It works very well. After your system is stable, you can try another third party firewall. I use Comodo firewall and it runs well on my system.

I rarely recommend flashing the BIOS because there is a slight risk involved. If the flash does not work properly for some reason, it can turn your computer into a useless paper weight. I recommend flashing the BIOS if -
1. The BIOS upgrade corrects a specific problem you are having with your computer; or
2. The BIOS upgrade is recommended by the motherboard or computer manufacturer.
If you do flash the BIOS, do so outside of Windows and follow the directions precisely.

Due to the language barrier, I am unable to read the error message on the screen shot you uploaded. I have asked for help in interpreting the reading. I will get back to you on this.

Hi,

No i had no reoccurance of that specific problem, BUT I had a new BSOD!!
This was before I deinstalled COMODO firewall, I attached the new BSOD files in this post.

SO now I have deinstalled COMODO also, like I said, see what happens.

I have updated some drivers but I'm not sure there oke right now, could you check please?

Your dump is bugcheck 1E and it blames dxgkrnl.sys, the Windows system Direct X driver which is most likely not the real cause.

I see two drivers that are definitely suspect. GVTDrv64.sys does not show up in this dump; but since AODDriver.sys is showing up, I suspect it is still there. Completely uninstall EasyTune6 or AMD Overdrive, which ever utility you have. Completely uninstall Marvin Bus.
Quote:
AODDriver.sys Mon Oct 13 00:38:55 2008 - AMD Overdrive; also in EasyTune6 for Gigabyte motherboard. Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM. Upgrade this software or uninstall it.

MarvinBus64.sys Fri Sep 23 17:17:03 2005 - likely a part of Pinnacle Studio's Marvin Bus. Pinnacle Systems - Product Support. Uninstall Marvin bus; it is obsolete.
As you said, this dump occurred before you uninstalled Comodo. Once you know your system is running table, you try Comodo again.

I also see these out of date drivers. Update them if you can.

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc000001d, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff88013df2548, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: fffff880046b23b8, Exception Record Address

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

Didn't had much time lately, so here is my delayed reply.

I deinstalled some programmes and updated a few drivers. But when i have to deinstall Marvinbus64 i have to deinstall my video editing program completely I think.
So when you are running out of options I will try that but than as last resort.

I have had 2 BSOD's since I altered the configuration, there still MUST be something wrong?!?!?
Besides that I get frequent application failures on the system.
I dont know if you can see those to?

Do you have a clue?

Quote:
Bugcheck 109, CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION. This bugcheck is generated when the kernel detects that critical kernel code or
data have been corrupted. There are generally three causes for a corruption:
1) A driver has inadvertently or deliberately modified critical kernel code
or data. See Patching Policy for x64-Based Systems: Information for Driver Developers
2) A hardware corruption occurred, e.g. failing RAM holding kernel code or data.

Bugcheck 3B, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory.
The 109 dump does not blame anything. The analysis is inconclusive. The 3B dump blames one of the Windows system core files, highly unlikely to be the cause. Let's do two things:

1. Test your RAM with Memtest 86 following the instructions in this tutorial: RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Run Memtest from a cold boot after your computer has been off for at least an hour. Let it run for a minimum of seven passes. This will take 6-8 hours. If you see any errors you can stop the test. Report back with your results.

2. If Memtest does not show any errors, enable Driver Verifier carefully following the instructions in this tutorial: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable. Use your computer normally while Verifier is running. If Verifier finds a faulty driver, it will trigger a BSOD. Upload all Verifier enabled dumps.

You might try renaming the Marvin Bus driver and see if you if this helps your system's stability. I suggest that that you get video editing software that is certified compatible with Win 7. Windows 7 Compatibility: Software Programs & Hardware Devices: Find Updates, Drivers, & Downloads

CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION (109)
This bugcheck is generated when the kernel detects that critical kernel code or
data have been corrupted. There are generally three causes for a corruption:
1) A driver has inadvertently or deliberately modified critical kernel code
or data. See Patching Policy for x64-Based Systems: Information for Driver Developers
2) A developer attempted to set a normal kernel breakpoint using a kernel
debugger that was not attached when the system was booted. Normal breakpoints,
"bp", can only be set if the debugger is attached at boot time. Hardware
breakpoints, "ba", can be set at any time.
3) A hardware corruption occurred, e.g. failing RAM holding kernel code or data.

Hi Carl,

Didn't had a BSOD since 14-2-2011.

I ran Memtest86 once again, 8 passes NO errors.
I'll go ahead with driver verifier, let you know about the results.

Thanks again
