02 Feb 2011   #1

Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit

Halmacpi.dll

I have been getting a lot of these BSOD's lately and not sure why.
I have run in safe mode each time and also done a disk check.

My operating system is windows 7, the original was Vista, I have been running windows 7 for around 8 months and the computer is 2 years old.

Hi tazz360 and Welcome.

STOP 0x0000008E: KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Usual causes:
Insufficient disk space, Device driver, Video card, BIOS, Breakpoint in startup without having a debugger attached, Hardware incompatibility, Faulty system service, 3rd party remote control, Memory

Your dump file gives "ANALYSIS_INCONCLUSIVE"
Old and incompatible drives can and do cause issues with Windows 7.

As a Priority:

ZoneAlarm Security and Firewall is known to be a cause of BSOD's on many Windows 7 systems. Download the ZoneAlarm Remover http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe. Uninstall ZoneAlarm through Programs and Features. Boot to safe mode and run the ZoneAlarm Remover. Reboot. Make sure that Windows Firewall is enabled.
Alternatively
Try this Microsoft hotfix if you wish to keep ZoneAlarm: Stop Error 0x07F when you run applications that transfer data using the UDP protocol in Win Server 2008 R2/Win 7" which I can neither verify or discount. It may work, it may not.

KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 00000068, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: b0cc2bd4, Trap Frame
Arg4: 00000000

Hi there and thanks for replying.

It seems that after everything you advised, Zonealarm is the culprit of these BSOD's, I have uninstalled and gone back to Windows Firewall as I'm not sure what other good free firewalls are out there.

Many thanks again.
