    Error 5;access denied

I'm running Windows 7 x64 bit and over the last couple of days every 15-20 minutes I get an Error 5:access denied message for visual basic command line compiler. how do i fix this problem? i'm not really good with computers so the easiest way of doing this would be much appreciated.

    Hi Minnesota1, welcom to Sevenforums

I had this yesterday with a package of other problems.
Can you explain more about the issue? What type of environment your in, what user rights you have, where the program is running from?
A first suggestion would be to right click on the application, go to the compatibility tab, and select 'run as administrator'

i really don't much of what caused the issue. it pops up even when im not running any programs. the only thing it links it to is a program called visual basic command line compiler and it can get to the file that says vbc. (not vbc.exe, althought that is there too) i don't know what it is or how to get rid of it but searching google it says it is linked to microsoft visual studios.

That sounds pretty suspecious. May be a trojan or something trying to run a VB script or even compile a program and run it from source...

Unless your doing anything with VB yourself, I'd start doing scans on your system.

nothing comes up in the scans. they say no infections

You havent installed any MS development tools right?

Does it say what folder the vbc (or vbc.exe) file is in?

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 this is where it is at and the box highlighted says vbc and its listed as an application and its was instaled before i bought the computer

could it have something to do with an application called microsoft silverlight. i dont know what it is but i think it has something to do with microsoft visual studios and that seems to be where my issue is originating from

Ok, that is the normal .NET library install location so that's fine. If it had been somewhere else the it would have been more of a problem.

Did you recently install silverlight? It shouldn't cause this by itself though. ANy other programs installed recently?

It seems like it may be a .net based app that's been installed, though why it would be automatically running when your doing nothing else is still a mystery. Or why the app is trying to access a file or registry entry or some other protected windows resouce giving you that error.

You might try running "msconfig" (type it into the start menu search box and hit enter) and look at the "startup" tab. Look for anything suspecious in there. You can disable items or all of them and see if it goes away. THen re enable them one by one til it comes back.
