Frequent Crashes
My system has been crashing frequently. I never get a BSOD--just a black screen and a reboot. Frequently happens while using Quicken Premier 2010, but also happens when Quicken isn't running. I can consistently reproduce it by simply clicking through video files I have stored in a local directory that I share over my LAN (clicking--not even double clicking).
I've run the Windows 7 memory test and it reported no memory issues. I saw a post somewhere that AVG anti-virus caused this, so I've removed that and have just installed Windows Security Essentials. I've updated my video driver, but all other drivers appear to be up to date. Yet despite all this, the problem is still readily reproducible.
Basic system info:
- Windows 7 Pro x64
- Original OS installed was Vista Bus 64, but I got 7 upgrade disks via mail-in as part of the system purchase and did a fresh install, not an upgrade
- An OEM or full retail version? Not sure--came from Microsoft so I believe it's full retail.
- The system is 1 year old
- I have not re-installed the OS since the original Windows 7 install
Thank you for any help you can provide!
Cheers,
Tim
