BSOD iastor.sys Hello!
I was surfing youtube one day and my computer suddenly restarded. On startup I got a bluescreen telling me DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OF_EQUAL, iastor.sys etc.
I can still not start my computer normally. I have now successfully started up in safe mode with network. However this does not work all the time. It seems like it works when I restore to a previous restore point, but I get a blue screen when I try normal start up.
perfmon /report didn't work, but I have attatched Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2.
My specs are:
Sony Vaio VGN-Z530N/G, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Retail, Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2,4 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD.
I hope there are some skilled people here, who can help me out | My System Specs |

Hi johnje and Welcome.
Has this only started recently?
Download TDSSKiller and run it in Safe Mode.
I'll look into your (latest) dump files but the internet is a bit slow tonight so may take a little while. | My System Specs | | |

Try this free scan: Free Virus Scan - Kaspersky Lab
Do not attempt to remove any viruses at this point. What we're looking for is to see if you have the TDSS rootkit. If so, removal will probably render your system unbootable (but we can fix that)
Please visit Windows Update and get all available updates. Quote: I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future: Quote: H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics: Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link) HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link) Then please update your chipset and storage drivers directly from the Intel download center: http://downloadcenter.intel.com
Also, wireless USB modems have a history of giving BSOD's - especially when using Vista drivers on Windows 7 systems. I suggest replacing the USB modem with an "inside the case" wireless device. They are much more robust, reliable, and are faster. In the event that you can't do this, then install the latest Windows 7 drivers for the USB modem - DO NOT use Vista drivers
Then: OLDER DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Please update these drivers from the device manufacturer's website.
- DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
- Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers: BSOD BUGCHECK SUMMARY Code:

Thanks a lot for your quick response and effort. I really appreciate it.
I can not even boot in to safe mode now, and i get new bluescreens with errors like cng.sys and ntfs.sys. I've pretty much decided on reinstalling my windows. Luckily I was able to do a backup. I have burned a win 7 dvd, and it is working fine on this computer. However, when I try to boot up from the dvd on my own computer, I get a black screen with a blinking white line for a while, and then "Bootmgr image is corrupt. The system cannot boot"
I've tried startup repair via f8 and windows repair, and bootrec /RebuildBcd in command prompt. I still have no luck booting from the dvd and this is starting to get quite frustrating. Anyone have any tips? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Sony Vaio Z VGN-Z320N/G OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Inter Core 2 Duo P8600 2,4 Ghz Memory 4 GB Graphics Card Nvidia 9300 Hard Drives 205 GB |

I suggest the bootable hardware diagnostics that I posted in my previous post. IMO this sounds like your hard drive is going bad (iastor.sys and ntfs.sys are both related to your HDD). Quote: H/W Diagnostics:
