    BSOD Locale ID 1033

howdy! first post on this forum, and hoping someone can help me out!

I've recently been plagued with some dastardly BSOD's on my new build. I've swapped out my hard drive into a buddies computer (which is almost identical to mine, excluding the manufacturer of his graphics card and the wattage of his power supply).

The problem has followed my HDD to his computer, and I'm wondering if you can help me sort out the windows error dialog mumbo-jumbo.

    Windows said:
    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 124
    BCP1: 0000000000000000
    BCP2: FFFFFA8004B4E028
    BCP3: 00000000B60EA000
    BCP4: 0000000000000175
    OS Version: 6_1_7600
    Service Pack: 0_0
    Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\020911-23509-01.dmp
    C:\Users\Blake\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-49374-0.sysdata.xml

    Read our privacy statement online:
Windows 7 Privacy Statement - Microsoft Windows

If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline:
    C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt
I've seen other posts with a .zip file attached, but I'm not sure how to access that. I can attach the file under C:\Windows\Minidump\.., but the one under C:\Users\.. doesn't exist, as far as I've seen.

Any help would be appreciated, because this is really getting in the way of me enjoying my new mobo, ram, and processor. :[

    -Windows 7 x64
-It is the originally installed OS
    -OEM-disc. I installed it.
-The motherboard, ram and proc are all brand spankin' new. The HDD, PSU, and graphics cards are anywhere from 9 months to a 1.5 years old. However, the problem persists on my friends build with my harddrive, as I stated above, and all of his components are less than 2 months old.
-The OS has been installed on my HDD for almost 6 months. I'm trying to avoid reinstalling it, but if I have to, I can and will.

What did you do to fix it? I'm fully backed up and ready to reinstall windows, but honestly if I can avoid it I'd really like to. It'll take me days to reinstall everything I use lol

    Hi ClosingCircuits and Welcome.

You're getting a stop0x124, which means blame the hardware. And as the problem followed your hard drive to nother PC the obvious candidate has to be the hard drive.

You could run Chkdsk. to check for errors and then run the correct Hard Drive Diagnostics Tool for your hard drive.

I think though, at the end of the day you're going to have to replace the drive.

See this thread for pointers: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

Check Disk returned no errors, I'm currently running the Western Digital Data Lifeguard utility, but it's about 50% with no errors found yet either.

Even if these things return no errors, should I still buy a new HDD?

Also: can I still use this HDD for storage and install my OS on a new, more stable HDD? or could the problem persist through that?

    Hi ClosingCircuits.

I'm using my "dying" HDD from my old XP machine as a backup and have done for nearly three years with no problems. BUT!! because I had problems when it was my main drive I only use it as a halfway house for the really important stuff.
Could you borrow your friends hard drive to try in your machine? That would nail it as the problem if that drive works OK. If it didn't work it would probably be something else and that would be a process of elimination.
You may want to run some tests on your RAM and CPU before committing your hard earned pennies to a new hard drive, but it would be a good excuse for me if it was my problem!!
