Memory Conflict causing BSOD

Hello,

I am having to write this from my mac, which is my laptop; I recently re-upgraded my computer to a supported CPU which my motherboard supports. I don't know anything else, but I get BSOD nearly every minute..

I cannot go on the internet, I cannot do anything. I get BSOD every startup, safe mode and repair.

I'm going to try to connect get all the files you guys need to try to help me; I just hope it doesn't get a BSOD in the process.

If possible, install the CPU on another system, and confirm that the CPU itself is not the problem.

The other most important thing you can do is install your old CPU again, and make sure that it solves the problem.

Perhaps I am on the lookout for this because of another thread I solved today (see here), but I notice your BIOS is relatively old. The old BIOS may not support the new CPU.

I'd like to thank you for you post and support. Anyhow, I bought this on an auction; The CPU looks in great condition, no marks, no pins removed nothing. Everything looks nice.

The BIOS I have, is the correct one, I have checked on the same website you have and the CPU is support with this BIOS.

I don't have another computer with the same socket as I do, therefore I cannot try it out. I'm actually on Safe Mode now, and it works; As soon as I use anything, it will crash the application and stop it working. I can't figure out why.

I know the problem would go away, because I have never had a BSOD before I installed the CPU, and a few months back when I tried to install another CPU (Which I found out it was unsupported) I got BSOD with that too. Then when I put my old one back in, it was perfect.

The only thing is, my old one was a Intel Pentium D: 3.00Ghz, It's very bad when it comes to the latest games now-a-days.

I really could do with getting this working, but I don't see how the problem is occurring.

Just a quick note; if I was to reformat my computer, what are the possible chances it would work? I'm debating weather or not to reformat it; But I honestly don't wanner loose everything all over again.

I'd say the chances are slim at best, as this seems to be a hardware issue.

Make sure that you applied the thermal paste and heat sink/fan correctly. On overheating CPU could certainly cause that. Along those lines, enter the BIOS setup program, and see if you can view your temperatures.

Also, create a Live Unbuntu CD: Download | Ubuntu

Load the Linux version of Prime95 onto a USB drive, or just download it from the internet once you boot into Ubuntu. Set the CD to be the first to boot (or use the popup boot menu), and select "Try Ubuntu".

I haven't used the Linux version, but I am going to guess it's quite similar to the Windows one.

To be honest, I've never put Thermal Paste on the CPU, I didn't do it on the last one neither, I didn't really think anything of it; Would that be a reason of it?

I'm trying to run my computer in Safe-mode so I can't get the CPU Stress test on. I'm sure I did it yesterday, with a different program and it BSOD me.

Again, I will inform you if anything happens.

It's all about the temperatures; have a look in the BIOS to see what you're getting.

Okay, I'm going to put the Thermal paste to my last priority, if I cannot get this to work, then I will buy some Thermal paste later on.

I'm currently running the CPU Stress test through Safe-mode, It seems to be going very well at the moment I haven't received any errors.

I'm also downloading the uBuntu, and I will put that to a disk if I can. What is the meaning of the uBuntu may I ask?
