    BSOD dump files help

Here is what I have. Lenova A63 Desktop with Windows 7 Pro 32bit, about 1 yr old. AMD Athlon II X2 processor, original OEM OS with no re-installs. Bluescreen comes up and goes away all by itself and then OS restarts. I know i don't have an antivirus installed as I just removed AVG today as I thought it was creating a seperate problem unrelated. Planning to re-install asap.
    Thanks in advance
    Shawn

First off, I would just install microsoft security essentials to replace the loss of AVG, it's not the greatest thing but it is stable in win 7.

Give me a little time and I'll edit this post with the dump info.

edit: it seems the acronis disk filter driver is interfering with activity. I'm still running debug on the two most recent dump files though.

    Code:
    NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM (24)
If you see NtfsExceptionFilter on the stack then the 2nd and 3rd
parameters are the exception record and context record. Do a .cxr
on the 3rd parameter and then kb to obtain a more informative stack
        trace.

    spio.sys Thu Mar 06 00:33:48 2008 - http://www.runscanner.net/lib/spio.sys.html It's not in the driver database.

    AtiPcie.sys - Tue May 05 10:00:16 2009 - Should be updated if possible - system manufacturer or http://www.AMD.com

Removing acronis may resolve the issue, but both memory and system file integrity checks are in order I think.

FWIW Acronis was installed maybe 3-4 months ago. The first 2 or 3 BSOD were pre-Acronis. Thanks again for your help and the advice on MS Security Essentials.

This is a common misconception, just because it didn't cause a problem previously doesn't mean it's immune from scrutiny now.

Also if you have overclocked your computer, the same could be said, and I would remove the overclock until you are done troubleshooting.

You should also run a memory test, since memory corruption also appears as a cause.

I wonder if spio.sys is related to Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120%. They produce driver files very similar together (sptd, spio, spcy, spcw, etc...). I suggest that you uninstall it because it is a known cause of BSOD on Windows 7.

Use this SPTD uninstaller: DuplexSecure - Downloads. Select Uninstall; DO NOT select RE-INSTALL.

spio.sys is the Lenovo Speed Fan controller. Whether that would actually be causing BSOD's I won't comment on, I am not a BSOD guru but that is what it is.

I'd uninstall it because it does not show compatibility for Windows 7 - only shows for XP and Vista.
