BSOD home built system; somewhat computer illiterate, pls help

    Hiya,

I am getting a BSOD and windows no start. I can go to safe mode. Pls help I am not very computer savy.

I started getting BSOD today...(driver_irql_not_less_or_equal). I tried rolling back to a date it worked but no go. I tried every option on the F8 at start up screen. I added and removed all new programs. I allocated more memory in the system. I restarted ofcourse but no worky.

My system was made by a buddy who is computer savy but now out of the country (military). It is 2 yrs old, Win 7 64bit (I didnt get a disk so I dont know how/if copy is registered), 4 gb ram, twin intel core 2 duo cpu E8400 3.0 ghz.

The BSOD happen during a restart. I had previously loaded some software (peer guardian 2 and a tried to driver signature overriders) all software was removed and sucessful restarts accomplished before I got the BSOD. I had previously gotten a memory low notice but I dont understand it because I have a good amount of memory and I dont do much on the puter. Usually have Facebook, vuse and e-mail running???

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    Billy

I tried to run the second report (system resources but it would not run; error copied below).

     Error:

An error occured while attempting to generate the report.

The system cannot find the path specified.

Love to help but no DMP files included in upload, try this method

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

    The procedure:

    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy.
    * Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

    To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
    OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

    Cant find minidump??

Zigzag, first thanks for the help and quick response.

I enabled dumps and double checked after restart that the changes took but I can not find a file named minidump from C:/windows/...did I miss something?

I went back and tried to restart normally incase it needed a failed restart to generate the folder and report but the minidump folder is still not there?????

Also the version is Win 7 home premium

    Please advise.

Billy, did you enable Memory Dumps or Small Dumps? Your configuration shoould look like the one in the last screenshot of the forst post in this tutorial: https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html. Follow the instructions in that first post and upload the whole package to us. We can better help you with that additional information.

Your settings now look right. Until you actually have a BSOD, you won't have any *.dmp files and you may well not have a minidump folder. I just created a minidump folder manually (because I wanted a different icon) in C:\Windows.

From what I am looking at that pic - uninstall IOBIT Freeware. Windows 7 does not need a utility that can speed up the Internet and the computer. Read this article to speed up your computer: Speed up your PC. If you need a registry cleaner - CCleaner is recommended. Personally, I do not use registry cleaners (unless for a serious reason).

I agree with Dean's suggestion; uninstall IOBit. Also, I suggest that you uninstall HotSpot Shield. It is known to cause problems on some Win 7 system. YOu can read this for more information: Gadgets Review: Hssdrv.sys causing blue screen error
