BSOD on Cold Boot, am I missing something here? 4 x 2gb OCZ3G1333LV4GK
Hello SevenForums,
I really hope that someone here can help me as I am out of ideas on this one to be honest.
I HAD the following spec which for 12 months was 100% stable:
ASUS P7P55D Mobo (0915 BIOS)
Intel i5 750 @ 2.67Ghz
XFX ATI Radeon HD4890 running 9.12 Catalyst (Driver Only)
GeIL PC3-17000 GU34GB2133C9DCA 9-9-9-28 @ 2133mhz
Then in Dec 2010 I needed more RAM so I could run more VMs etc, here's what I upgraded to and where I am right now:
ASUS P7P55D Mobo (2003 BIOS)
Intel i5 750 @ 2.67Ghz
XFX ATI Radeon HD4890 running 11.2 (latest) Catalyst (Driver Only)
4 x 2GB OCZ3G1333LV4GK 9-9-9-20 @ 1333
So, the problem is that on pretty much every single cold boot I get a BSOD, this may have the errors such as (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) or (NTFS.SYS) or (Standard BSOD with no mention of driver) the BSOD can happen sometimes just after the logon box has appeared or sometimes just after login.
After the cold boot BSOD the machine will reboot the go into Windows 7 startup repair, fail, reboot again then straight into windows, no errors just the standard 'Windows has recovered from an error' message with links to the minidump file. At this point the machine remains stable, GFX performance is fine, CPU performance is fine.
I have the motherboard settings as follows:
CPU Level Up [Auto]
AI OC Tuner [Auto]
Intel Speedstep [Disabled]
Xtreme Phase Full Power [Auto]
DRAM Freq [DDR3-1333Mhz]
QPI Freq [Auto]
9-9-9-20
CAS# / tCL = 9
RAS# to CAS# / tRCD = 9
RAS# PRE / tRP = 9
RAS# ACT = tRAS = 20
REF Cycle Time / tRFC = 82 (no option for 80 only 78/82)
Timing Mode = 2N
Everything else in that section is [Auto]
IMC Voltage = 1.30000
DRAM Voltage = 1.6500
CPU Spread Spectrum [Disabled]
Everything else in that section is [Auto]
I have ran a 10 hour Memtest+ v4.10 without any errors with all 4 modules in.
I have ran at least a 2h30m test on each individual module in slot A1 on their own without any errors.
Once in the OS I have ran Prime 95 for 30 mins without any errors and the max CPU temp reached 54c
I have installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate on a different Hard Disk and I still get BSODs, 50% without mentioning a driver , 50% saying NTFS.SYS
So, my question is where am I going wrong, what have I missed? Everything was stable until I made the changes in December, at which point I did the following:
Updated BIOS
Updated ATI Graphics Driver
Installed the 8gb of OCZ memory
Installed a 2nd HDD, 1TB. (all above testing has been completed with this HDD disconnected)
Hope someone can help, if I've missed any information off then please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your help.
OT.
