    Blue Screen Error

    Hi,
i'm using a samsung R480 laptop, and i keep encountering this blue screen error recently.
the computer freezes before going into a blue screen, with the error message

driver irql not less or equal BSOD
    or the
A Clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the

    allocated time interval' BSOD.

I get this really often when i try to play games such as BC2 or black ops. i have sent it for repairs before,
and they have changed the motherboard and the RAM sticks but i am still getting the same errors. please help!

    My system specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit

    - original OS came installed on system (retail from samsung)
    - my system is about 1 year old, and i have not done reformatting before.

    Thanks!
      My Computer

    Hi yhelother and Welcome.

    STOP 0x00000101: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
    Usual causes:
Device driver, BIOS bug, hardware defect.

Your latest dump file lists Unknown_Image ( ANALYSIS_INCONCLUSIVE ) as the probable cause.
Stop 0x101 often indicates a problem with your CPU. However, old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

    As a Priority:

McAfee is known to be a cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. I suggest that you uninstall McAfee using the McAfee Removal Tool http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe. Download Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Make sure your Windows firewall is enabled! Once your BSOD issues are resolved, feel free to try the latest version of McAfee.

hamachi.sys Thu Feb 19 10:36:27 2009 LogMeIn Hamachi Virtual Network Driver Known issues with Windows 7. Update or uninstall.

The sptd.sys driver is notorious for causing BSOD's with Windows 7. It's a driver used and installed along with Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120 which you'll also have to uninstall.
Then use the correct (32bit or 64bit) download from Duplex Secure - Downloads to uninstall the SPTD.SYS driver.
Make sure to select the uninstall button! DO NOT SELECT INSTALL!!
    Virtual Drives
A couple of alternatives to DT/Alcohol that do not use SPTD.SYS (In no order).
DVDFab. Very small at just over 1Mb installed (My preference).
PowerISO (The program is a trial but the drive emulation is free forever).

    Download and install Driver Sweeper.
    Boot to Safe Mode
Uninstall your current Graphics Driver SetUp.
Run Driver Sweeper to clean up any left overs.
    Reboot to Normal Mode.
Install your new Graphics Driver SetUp.

    Thanks fimble,

i'll try to do all of that by the weekend and see how it goes from there,
yesterday i tried to leave my computer on and it BSOD'd and when i tried to boot it again it got stuck at the windows loading screen. it performs fine in safe mode - i'm considering a reformat of my hard disk, and i want to ask some questions,

will it be fine to just reformat one of my partitions at a time so that i don't lose data? or should i just do a total reformat?

thanks for all you help and i greatly appreciate!

    Hi -
i've done most of the things stated, except for a few which i can't figure out

how to update drivers SABI.sys and btwl2cap.sys for example. i've tried using device manager to update those but they come back saying that its updated. So what i did was disable the bluetooth functions first.

however, when i updated the driver for intel (iaStor.sys Wed Apr 28 00:46:06 2010 Intel Rapid Storage.) my computer kept coming back with the blue screen message whenever i tried to startup. now i can only run it in safe mode.

Does this mean its a processor issue?
