    Dell XPS 720 BSOD & Explorer crases


    Hi All,

    I am new here and i am hoping someone will be able to help me with my computer problems.

    I have just installed a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I load up internet explorer and it random crashes "this program has stopped etc" and will restart. I managed to download firefox and it has restarted 2 times whilst i have typed this message.

    I have had one BSOD something like 0x0000A IRQL error. I have had explorer crash and this is all on a fresh install with only avast installed.

    The zip file has been created as asked for possible fault finding.

    clicking start and typing in the search programs & files box also causes Explorer to crash & restart.

    Any help would be great.

    Thank you.

    *updated and added files for BSOD.

    * i have tried doing windows updates and when the machine restarts to configure updates it fails.

    Thanks for the advise DeanP.

    I have updated the graphics card drivers and the storage drivers.

    I try to install SP1 but i get an error * attached screenshot *

    looking around it said to download "Mats_Run.WindowsUpdate" from microsoft, but doing this i got a BSOD.

    Any more help would be great.

    Run System Update Readless Tool (from Microsoft) - Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2
    Try and install the updates again after running that tool.

    If that doesn't work - you need to do a repair install.
