Random Crashes within the last 2 days

I have been having an issue with my PC the last couple of days. I built it myself and the specs are listed on my profile. A day or two ago it just randomly restarted. The sound that was currently playing started looping over and over and the machine restarted. There was no bluescreen I could see but the post screen showed 20-30 seconds later and then rebooted. I got the windows has recovered from a serious error message.

Originally I had the PC overclocked to 3.6 so I figured for some reason the OC wasnt stable all of the sudden (it has been for 4 months now). So I restored everything to the default settings hoping that could be it. It crashed again so I know that wasnt the problem. I ran Memtest 86 for about 4 hours with no errors. I also ran a windows full chkdsk. Today I updated my bios and all of my drivers including the video.

    It just crashed again.

I did not change anything significant that I can think of and never had any problems before. At least two of the crashed were while playing world of warcraft. The others may not have been.

I have attached 2 dump files I found in my minidump folder if that helps anyone. Thank you very much in advance for any help offered.

Thank you for the quick response. I will update the drivers you mentioned and reinstall the video card drivers with the clean sweet program.

You are recommending I uninstall Daemon? And what does the Duplex secure do? Thanks!

After you have uninstalled DT and rebooted, run Duplex Secure tool to uninstall sptd.sys driver if it's still there.

    Bug 116

Out of curiosity, what is the issue you found with DT
No issue with it in your case, sptd.sys is not cited as the causer in your crash dumps. However, it is a good idea to uninstall this outdated (sptd.sys 2009) and in other cases rather notorious driver to be sure it does not affect your crashes in any way. When your problem is resolved, feel free to install the latest version of Daemon Tools.

    Before you replace the card,

    - make sure that the drivers are up to date, not only the video driver
    - try a different release of the video driver (use driver sweeper between reinstalls)
    - ensure that all hardware clocks and voltages are set strictly as recommended by the manufacturer
    - upgrade to the latest bios version available for your motherboard
    - system reinstall will fix nothing, but I would try it as well.

    Hey,

I did everything mentioned above including a full system clean reinstall. I was playing wow this morning when it randomly crashed again. It had been working fine for the past week or so with no errors until just now. The screen went black, all the pc fans were going at high speed and the power and hdd lights were solid on the front of the case. I pressed the power button and the machine instantly turned off. I waited a few seconds, pressed the power button again, and it booted up normally. Not really sure what the issue is here. Either way I have attached the dmp file from this crash a few minutes ago.

    Thank you!

Also maybe a related thing... It seems to happen mostly from what I can recall when playing WoW. After I did the fresh system install, I also used WoW's 'repair' file and it said "Wow has been successfully repaired." It worked fine for a week or two after that until today. A few days ago for the hell of it I tried to repair the folder again and it said no issues were found. Now after this crash I tried the repair yet again and got the "Wow has been successfully repaired." message again. Now I dont know how debug the dmp files but could there be something with this game that is messing with my system or something? After the repair I relaunched the game and it seems to be running smoother now.

    Just throwing that out there.

My video card fan also seems to get pretty loud when playing any games. I can't say if its louder than normal because I dont have another one to compare it to. Its a eVGA gtx 460. Im not sure if its too hot or if the fan isnt working properly or thats a normal noise level.

Ok I am pretty sure I am having a major problem with my video card. What are the normal temps?

    Check out the Screen shot.

Idle im running like 40-50. As you can see from the screen shot, this is me about 5 minutes in to playing and its obviously putting a lot of stress on my card. The fan on the video card got up to almost 3600 rpm and the temp even hit 99 degrees celcius at one point with it averaging 89-94 after a few minutes of game play. I am assuming this is way too hot correct? as you can see my cpu temps are good, only getting to 45 or so at the most under load.

Should I be calling eVGA? Also can someone confirm the dmp file is pointing to my video card? I would appreciate it and any other advice. Thanks!
