New mb/ram/cpu and now w7 wont start

Hi guys/girls

Just reassembled my pc with my new hardware:
ASUS P8P67 Deluxe
Intel I5-2500K
Kingston 2x4GB KHX1600C9D3T1/8GX

Booting up the pc went smoothly until I got to the "windows is loading" screen.
Directly after this screen I see a bsod (i assume) for under a second and the pc restarts.
Tried running the repair without luck, reloaded a restore point but didnt change anything.
It still does the same thing when booting in safe mode so cant get in at all.

I then put another system together from old parts and connected the same hdd and it booted up flawlessly.
I was at this point under the assumption that I had made a mistake assembling my new rig.
Then took another HDD connected it to the new rig and installed windows on that one (still connected to new hardware).
Windows installed and booted up on this harddisk flawlessly.

Now I am really confused.
How come the hardware works on this harddisk but not my main one when that same harddisk works on another system with different hardware?

I am not interested in running windows from the disk I test installed it on (as it sucks) and really want to avoid reinstalling windows on the main drive if at all possible.

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

once you get new hardware such as a new cpu/mobo, you usually need to re install win7 or else it wont work.

Dutchdarky: I tend to get a new mb and parts every 1-2 years and first time I cant just plug in my old hdd and it works

Zepher: Thanks will give it a try.
However any reason this should work when using a restore point successfully didnt fix the problem?

The main disk is a western digital 2 TB SATA 3 Gb/s drive (cant recall exact name).
Have tried a few different sata connections on the mb both sata 3 Gb/s and 6Gb/s slots.

Said "no physical drive detected" when it was in the 3 Gb/s slot and and when swapped to the other one it detected the drive (however didnt change anything in regards to the no booting issue.

oh sorry, i've must been misinformed then. as i was told that you do need a fresh install with some new parts

Well, using a restore point still is trying to use the chipset drivers and other hardware drivers that were installed when win 7 was originally installed.

Sysprep will basically remove any hardware id's and drivers and do a mini-install when it runs and finds and loads the drivers for the current motherboard.

Ahh sweet yeah that should hopefully fix it.
