computer keeps restarting after virus removal

I was recently infected with an anti-malware virus of some sort. I think it was the Antimalware Doctor Virus. A pop-up for it came up which began "scanning" my computer. Soon later, my computer restarted. It gave me a blue screen and told me that this was an unexpected error, i might have inadequate disk space, and other things.

I went to safe mode and tried to uninstall the program, but it would not work. I should note that even in here, the computer would restart. Still in safe mode, I got into spy-bot and removed the program.

After doing this, I logged back on and the problem persisted even though the actual pop-up and program were now gone.

I returned to safe mode and used system restore. When that was finished, the computer would not reboot at all and it just showed a grey screen. It did its manual restart or attempt to fix whatever error caused this, but all that did was brought me back to square one where get that blue screen saying I have inadequate space. I have well over 50 gb free. What is going on? Did the malware damage my hard drive? Would it be wise to run spy-bot again or another spyware removal program?

    Hi Focus, Welcome.

    Things I would do.

Do not rely on S&D, (I'm not dismissing it by the way).

First download and make sure databases are up to date/latest the following:

    TDSSKiller

Download, install and update Malwarebytes' Free. Run both in full scan in Safe Mode.

If Spybot is the limit of your defense, get your hands on a decent AV program. As free ones go, best Windows 7 and BSOD friendly is Microsoft Security Essentials

Thanks so much! I did exactly what you said and it fixed the problem, or I am pretty sure it did. I will be sure to come back here if I ever need help again. I hope that isn't for a long time, though.
