    Can someone please confirm...

Had a few weird crashes lately and I am trying to figure out what the cause is... in the mean time I think I might have same data corruption but can someone please confirm that if during the Windows 7 Startup, after the logo has moved around a bit, does the screen just go black before booting in or does the logo freeze and pixelate in the bottom right hand corner of the monitor? It's just one of many werid things that I can't figure out if it was happening before the crashes, just trying to narrow it down.

    Windows 7 64-Bit Ultimate SP1

    Cheers!

This is a clear sign of overheating or defects in the GPU
Clean the dust accumulated in the GPU fans and turn off any overclocking

    Thanks for the reply.

I clean the PC on a monthly basis to get rid of dust as it accumulates quite a lot so I know it's not caused by that. I overclock the cpu but I don't overclock the GPU, temps are absolutely fine as well, CPU is clocked at 3.8GHz but idles at 33 degrees and only hits 49 degrees under load.

The only thing that had crossed my mind was if the heatsink has been screwed to the motherboard too tight but having loosened it I still get the logo anamaly which leads me to believe the crashing issues aren't going to be far behind.
